Tennessee Titans 2023 Future Odds

Re-Tooled Titans Ready to Prove Everyone Wrong Again

The 2022 season quickly went off the rails for the Tennessee Titans. The team lost its final seven games as injuries, and a tough schedule took its toll. With an aging core, Tennessee is re-tooled looking to go for a playoff run again. Derrick Henry is still the “King” and will lead the 2023 Tennessee Titans stats. But should this team falter early, hitting the reset button is not out of the question.

Aging Titans Fell in 2022; Can They Get Up for 2023?

Is the talk of the Tennessee Titans’ demise greatly exaggerated? The 2023 NFL predictions and odds have this team as a distant runner-up to Jacksonville in the division. The oddsmakers also don’t expect Tennessee to return to the playoffs and folks online have leaned on it to go under 7.5 wins.

But Tennessee is used to this. The Titans have typically overperformed expectations under Mike Vrabel. Last year marked the only time this team did not go over its regular-season win totals (9.5) and Ryan Tannehill’s injury has a lot to do with that.

Despite his limitations, Tannehill has a 100.5 passer rating in 57 games with the franchise. And now, he’ll have a new offense to work with.

DeAndre Hopkins is a true number-one receiver at 31 years old. Tennessee’s receivers had zero touchdowns last season but the addition of Hopkins, on top of Treylon Burks’s development could alleviate this sore area on offense.

Tennessee has also reshuffled its offensive line by signing Philadelphia’s Andre Dillard and using its first-round pick to take Peter Skoronski, the best guard in the NFL Draft. On top of that, Tennessee has a new coaching staff on offense and a new general manager in Ran Carthon.

Given all these changes, the 2023 Tennessee Titans stats could look a lot different than last season. This team should still be considered a contender albeit a questionable one. But with Mike Vrabel still coaching, expect him to get every ounce of effort from his players.

Super Bowl Odds: Remember the Titans?

At their current odds of 80-1, it would take a Disney story of a season for Tennessee to win the Super Bowl. The team’s line lengthened from its opener of 66-1 and it’s likely due to the turnover. Tennessee could be better with its changes on offense. But it could also get worse, especially since the team’s ceiling remains limited.

And in the playoffs, if Tennessee qualifies, the team has failed to win a game since it went on a deep run in 2019.

Conference Odds: Not in the Same League

Forget winning the Super Bowl. Tennessee may not even win a game. In its last three playoff appearances, Tennessee lost to Kansas City, Baltimore, and Cincinnati. That’s three of the top contenders for the AFC. Add to this the Titans’ 41-7 blowout loss to Buffalo in the regular season last year. The Titans are a distant “contender” in the NFL conference standings and 50-1 is a fair price.

Division Odds: Tennessee’s Test

The Titans may be long shots to make the Super Bowl. But winning back the AFC South could be doable. At +325, Tennessee is a large underdog to Jacksonville. But the odds could be a bit wide as the Jaguars were still just a 9-7 team last season. And the other two teams, Indianapolis and Houston, are not world-beaters either.

Tennessee went 3-3 against its division last season and it went 10-2 in the two seasons prior. There is value in Tennessee’s divisional odds as well as its chances to win more than 3.5 games at +145. That is if the team stays healthy.

Regular Season Wins: A Beatable Path

The 2023 Tennessee Titans’ stats could see an uptick thanks to an easier schedule on paper. Tennessee already plays in a weak division and then also gets the NFC South with four beatable teams. This is 10 games where Tennessee will either be favored or be a slight underdog. And it best makes the most of it as its remaining opponents can be difficult.

Tennessee also takes on the AFC North, Miami, and the Los Angeles Chargers. Getting to seven wins should be doable for Tennessee. But whether it goes over 7.5 wins or not will be up to how it can deal with superior opponents.

To Make Playoffs: High-Risk, High-Reward

Unlike Tennessee’s playing style, betting on the team to make the postseason can be a high-risk high-reward proposition. Bettors can double their stake (+200) if Tennessee finds its way back to the playoffs. And why not? Tennessee could win nine games and squeak into the final Wild Card spot. Heck, Tennessee might even edge Jacksonville for the division.

The Titans’ offense should be better than its 28th rank last season. And the defense, despite some losses and safety Kevin Byard’s trade request, will be a decent unit. Tennessee has the composition of a playoff-caliber team and the line is underrating this team a little.

Side Bets: Henry Stays Majestic

Derrick Henry could be in for another prolific season as a running back. The 29-year-old is still in his prime and just rushed for 1,500+ rushing yards coming off major surgery. He’s listed at +550 to lead the league in rushing yards for the third time. And he should be a favorite to lead in rushing touchdowns as well.

The Titans had the worst offensive line in 2022 so Henry’s production should improve if its additions, namely Skoronski and an improved passing game, pay dividends. Regardless, Henry will continue to be the focal point of Tennessee’s offense. So the lead back should have another monster year.
