Colts vs Bengals Free Pick Trends

Not only have the Colts won their last four games, but they have also covered in their last four games. Indianapolis has added at least 27 points in three of their previous four games and has dominated opposing defenses in most games in the second half.

That’s led to the Colts earning the Over in eight of 12 games this season.

On the other hand, the Cincinnati Bengals have gone 5-6-1 against the spread after a major upset on Monday Night Football against the Jaguars. Cincinnati was a 10-point underdog on the road and earned a 34-31 win in overtime against the Jaguars.

With that, the Over has hit in six of 12 NFL games. The Bengals have been extremely average, with a 6-6 record, going 3-3 on the road and 3-3 at home.

The Colts and Bengals last played on October 18, 2020, when the Colts earned a 31-27 win over the Bengals. However, this was the Cincinnati team that drafted Joe Burrow first overall the following year.

Should Steve Steichen Win NFL Coach Of The Year?

Steve Steichen took over as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts this season. He’s already been through a lot in his first stint as head coach.

The Colts drafted Anthony Richardson as the franchise quarterback in the NFL Draft. However, Richardson eventually had a season-ending injury that forced Gardner Minshew to take over at quarterback.

Minshew hasn’t been perfect. He’s also not a top-ten quarterback. However, Minshew had led the Colts to four straight wins and has them playing for a playoff spot.

He just added 312 yards on 26 completions, with two touchdowns and no interceptions against a divisional rival in the Tennessee Titans. Minshew led the Colts over the Titans in overtime after the Titans kicked a field goal to take the lead.

Meanwhile, star running back Jonathan Taylor has been injured multiple times this season and is unavailable currently with a thumb injury. The Colts also released Shaquille Leonard, who had earned Pro Bowl honors earlier in his career.

With everything happening right now, Steichen has done an admirable job with the Colts. He’s worthy of the award.

Cincinnati’s Letdowns

The Cincinnati Bengals were expected to be at the top of the AFC this season. Instead, they’re sitting .500 and no longer have Joe Burrow at quarterback for the remainder of the season.

But even when Burrow was available and playing, the Bengals have had a lot of underperformers this year.

Cincinnati signed Irv Smith Jr. to a one-year deal. Smith Jr. played in Minnesota but was just always injured, so he changed the scenery and went to Cincinnati. He was always a tight end with a lot of potential. He showed flashes on the field.

However, he’s added just one touchdown for the Bengals this season and is currently listed as the third-string tight end.

Meanwhile, Tee Higgins has also been a disappointment. He’s performed worse than Tyler Boyd this season, with 15 fewer catches and about 130 fewer yards. Sure, Higgins has played in four fewer games. But as the No. 2 receiver, Higgins has really underperformed this season.

Ride The Wave!

There have been two trends between these two teams.

The Colts have won four straight, while the Bengals have lost three of their last four games. Jake Browning has started to develop within the Cincinnati offense.

He’s faced tough competition between the Ravens, Steelers, and Jaguars. However, the Colts won’t be easy either.

The Colts have held three of their last four teams to no more than 20 points. The secondary and pass rush have helped the Colts keep teams to 223.73 yards in the air per game. Meanwhile, Indianapolis has struggled against the run, allowing nearly 130 yards rushing per game.

But with Cincinnati earning just 75.82 yards per game on the ground, the Bengals don’t have much of an edge here.

Although Minshew has been inconsistent for the Colts, he’s got Indianapolis believing. They’re all playing extremely hard and have scored 27 or more points in four of their last five games. That counts for something.

With Jonathan Taylor out, Zack Moss has stepped up, rushing for 723 yards on 160 attempts this season. He broke out after many analysts believed his career as a starter was finished.

It’s tough to fade the Bengals on the road after Monday’s matchup. But we still don’t trust the Cincinnati defense to do its part moving forward. Under Browning, it’s still unlikely that the Bengals will score 30+ points a night. They averaged under 20 a game, with Burrow under center.

By a game, the NFL AFC standings have the Colts ahead of the Bengals. It’ll stay that way after this game. You can use the betting odds calculator to help you understand payouts for your wagers. A $100 bettor would pay out nearly $192 for the Colts at -1 (-110).

The NFL schedule would’ve been better with Burrow and Richardson at quarterback. But injuries happen. Our Colts vs Bengals free pick includes the Colts against the spread at -1.
