Kattar vs Allen Odds Present Close Fight

Featherweight Title Contenders

Quality featherweights meet in Las Vegas on Saturday and Kattar vs Allen odds suggest an even five-round contest.

Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen are two of the best in the division and the winner could be granted a UFC title shot in early 2023. It couldn’t be more important for the American and British fighter, so all eyes are on the next UFC Fight Night Main Event.

Kattar Sizes Up

The size difference between Kattar and Allen could be the deciding factor, with Katter owning a height and reach advantage.

Josh Emmett defeated 34-year-old Kattar by decision in June, but having experience fighting five rounds is beneficial and it has been a theme of his recent fights.

His prior performances also included a five-round decision victory over Giga Chikadze, a defeat to Max Holloway, and a win over Dan Ige. Although there hasn’t been much consistency in the past few years, he’s a threatening fighter on his day.

We loved how he bounced back to win after getting rocked by Holloway, which caught the attention of UFC boss Dana White.

“He took so much punishment in this fight, I’m freaking out a little bit, man. I don’t like it. This reminds me of the kind of fight where the fight’s over, and then he walks in the back and dies,” White said.

Katter vs Allen odds have Katter at -110, so he’s the slight underdog. However, there’s nothing between them in betting markets and we expect that to materialize on fight night.

Having the size advantage usually helps. It closes down the gap and allows him to get into the clinch without too much worry. If Kattar can use his jab, he could posture up on Allen and make it hard for the Brit to land clean punches.

Allen Progressing Well

Allen is one of the top featherweights in the UFC with just one loss on his record.

The 28-year-old British fighter’s first-round knockout victory over Dan Hooker of New Zealand in March was spectacular and this is great form. Hooker isn’t an easy guy to knock out, so he has power and his confidence levels are high.

He also defeated Sodiq Yusuff and Nik Lentz. He’s currently riding an impressive winning streak and hasn’t lost in the UFC since joining in 2015.

Kattar vs Allen odds have Allen at -120, so he’s the narrow favorite. We expect late money to come for him, so his odds could firm to around -130.

“As fighters, everyone wants to have that fight that everyone looks back and goes, ‘Oh, that fight was crazy,’” Allen said. “But, for me, to outskill someone, shut them down, have a complete shutout, I’m pretty happy with that, too.”

Despite being undersized, he has torn through his UFC schedule opponents. We like his chances of continuing his winning streak, and although Kittar is his toughest test to date, his progression is likely to continue.
