Rozenstruik vs Almeida Odds Paint One-Sided Picture

UFC Fight Night Main Event in Charlotte

Rozenstruik vs Almeida odds have Brazilian fighter Jailton Almeida as the dominant favorite for Saturday’s main event at UFC Fight Night.

He’s the -500 favorite at the sportsbook to beat the always-dangerous Jairzinho Rozenstruik, so expectations couldn’t be any higher for the heavyweight.

With the fight unlikely to go the distance, bettors should expect to see a finish between these UFC fighters.

Beware the Power of Rozenstruik

Not many fighters want to take on 35-year-old Rozenstruik, who has the power to send any opponent to the canvas.

The native of Suriname comes off a 23-second knockout win over Chris Daukaus, so the current Rozenstruik vs Almeida odds of +350 for the underdog seem overly generous.

All he needs to do is land one punch to Almeida’s chin and it’s lights out, so we expected bookmakers to have framed a much closer contest.

He was knocked out by Alexander Volkov in June last year, but it’s either knock out or be knocked out in the heavyweight division, so it’s often a toss of the coin, which makes his odds look even better.

Almeida might be on a winning run, but Rozenstruik hasn’t given up hopes of fighting Jon Jones for the title.

“I’ll say to the top five [in the rankings]: Don’t get too comfortable. I put a lot of work into what I do. After a few fights [not winning)], I’m back in the win column and I’m looking forward to more,” Rozenstruik said.

He’s 13-4 overall, and he owns the second-fastest knockout in UFC history when taking just nine seconds to KO Allen Crowder in 2019. Since then, he has fought the best in the division, including Alistair Overeem, Junior dos Santos, and Francis Ngannou, so his class can’t be overlooked.

He also has a massive weight advantage over Almeida, who weighs 26 pounds less than Rozenstruik. If he can impose his size, he could tire Almeida before landing the winning blow.

Is Almedia Overrated?

Despite what Rozenstruik vs Almeida odds suggest, we don’t think Almeida should be as short as -500.

The 31-year-old might be unbeaten since arriving in the UFC, but he hasn’t exactly faced opposition with noting. He faced Anton Turkalj in his UFC debut in 2022, which resulted in a first-round submission.

He then faced Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC 283 where he won with a second-round knockout, but those aren’t the big names of the heavyweight division.

He looked good in those fights, but Rozenstruik is a different beast. He’s sizable and with extreme knockout power, so it won’t be easy for Almeida to close the gap.

“We’re one step closer and I see that the company is working with us. The UFC has been enjoying my fights. There’s not another heavyweight who is built like me, with my style. The UFC prioritizes that and they want to see me at the top,” Almeida said.

There is always plenty of hype around fighters like Almeida, but we believe Rozenstruik has been the better fighter in the UFC. He is still one of the more dangerous heavyweights, and he hasn’t lost confidence.

We can’t believe the odds that are available for the underdog, so he’s worth a nibble. We also expect his odds to firm throughout the week. +350 is a ridiculous price in the main event in Charlotte, so the smart bettors should recognize that price as value.
