Messi and Ronaldo Won’t Be Engaging in ‘One Last Dance’
The Soccer Rumors About the Al Nassr and Inter Miami Were Just That, Rumors

Fingers Crossed They Make It Happen
Inter Miami has refuted allegations that a highly anticipated encounter between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in a friendly match has been organized. On Tuesday, it was announced that Inter Miami would participate in the Riyadh Season Cup, a three-team event dubbed ‘The Last Dance’ . The tournament is set to feature Al Nassr and maybe Al-Hilal as well.
Inter Miami Dismisses Riyadh Rumors
Don’t get excited. The soccer rumors have been refuted. According to Inter Miami, nothing has been verified yet, which has cooled the hype down. A statement made by the MLS club read:
“Earlier today, an announcement was issued stating that Inter Miami CF is scheduled to play in the Riyadh Season Cup. This is inaccurate.
“The release included statements attributed to team owner Jorge Mas. Mas has made no comments, publicly or privately, in relation to the pre-season tour.”
While a friendly match between Inter Miami and Al Nassr was announced yesterday by the organisers of the Riyadh Season Cup, the MLS club have denied it:

So, as quickly as our excitement for a clash between Ronaldo and Messi elevated, it also disappeared quicker than Dillon Danis’ boxing career.
It goes without saying that many other famous players would have participated in a match between Miami and Al Nassr. Former Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have joined Messi in the States. Otavio, Alex Telles, Sadio Mane, Aymeric Laporte, Marcelo Brozovic, and Ronaldo are all current Al Nassr players.
Soccer Match Uncertainty Disappoints Fans
The Saudis’ insistence that this match would go on despite evidently unresolved agreements with Miami is disappointing. The announcement made people all across the globe thrilled, including myself, but now we’re met with nothing but disappointment.
Hopefully, it’s just a ploy to get us all worked up again, but given Miami’s statement, it isn’t looking hopeful that a meeting between soccer’s greatest will happen in February. However, a ray of soccer news optimism does exist. Messi and Ronaldo may yet meet each other in a final match if their respective sides reach the Club World Cup in the coming years.
