On Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s side willhttps://www.pointspreads.com/epl/ host Newcastle in an FA Cup Quarter-Final matchup. Newcastle have already defeated City this season in the EFL Cup and will be going for the cup double over City here. Ahead of this intriguing cup tie, we’ll look at the Man City vs Newcastle odds and preview the match.
Head-to-Head
This is the fourth opportunity to bet on Man City vs Newcastle odds in the 2023-24 season. Manchester City completed the EPL double over Newcastle this season, with a 1-0 win in Manchester and 3-2 victory at St. James’ Park. With Rodri out, Man City fell 1-0 to the Magpies in the EFL Cup last September as Alexander Isak scored Newcastle’s winner. City have lost just one of their last 12 games vs. Newcastle, in all competitions.
Man City Miss Opportunity vs Liverpool
Manchester City certainly had their opportunities to defeat Liverpool on the road at Anfield on Sunday. They took the lead through a brilliantly worked corner kick. John Stones made an intelligent near post run and Kevin De Bruyne found him with a bouncing cross which Stones sent into the back of the net. Darwin Nuñez later punished Nathan Ake’s poor back pass as City GK Ederson fouled the Liverpool man, who won a penalty. Alexis MacAllister stepped up and equalized for Liverpool.
A bizarre play which saw Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher punch the ball onto Phil Foden and onto the crossbar nearly resulted in a goal. Jeremy Doku also hit the post as third-placed City had to settle for a 1-1 draw. Unfortunately, Ederson had to leave the match as a result of his collision with Nuñez. It appears he’ll be out for a few weeks and Stefan Ortega will deputize in goal.
Erling Haaland was deafeningly quiet on Sunday and managed 11 touches fewer than Ortega, who only played 34 minutes plus stoppage time. Regardless, the Norwegian leads the EPL stats, with 18 goals. City won the FA Cup in 2022-23 and this time around they sit at +140 FA Cup odds to repeat. This weekend, Jack Grealish could join Ederson on the sidelines as the winger has a muscle injury.

Newcastle’s Injuries Pile Up
Newcastle United went on the road to London to face Chelsea on Monday evening for an EPL matchup. The Magpies fell behind just six minutes in as Nicolas Jackson deftly flicked in a Cole Palmer shot turned pass. Alexander Isak silenced the Chelsea crowd, albeit momentarily, when he scored a 43rd minute equalizer. In the second half Palmer got his goal and Mykhailo Mudryk doubled Chelsea’s lead. Jacob Murphy came on as a substitute and scored a screamer for Newcastle but the match finished 3-2 in favor of the Blues.
Both Anthony Gordon and Dan Burn went off injured on Monday and it’s doubtful that Gordon will be able to suit up on Saturday. Note that Eddie Howe’s side has conceded at least twice in each of their last three road matches vs. top flight opposition. They drew 1-1 at second-tier Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round of the FA Cup and ended up victorious in penalties. Newcastle also previously took down Sunderland and Fulham in this season’s FA Cup.
The Magpies are without some key players, which should hurt them considerably come Saturday. Sandro Tonali is still serving his gambling-related suspension, while Nick Pope, Joelinton, Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier are all out. Pope is usually Newcastle’s starting keeper, while Trippier leads the EPL in assists, with 10.
