Lille are unbeaten in their last three matches vs Monaco on the Ligue 1 schedule and Les Dogues have lost just one of the last seven.

Monaco Duo Suspended

Monaco shot themselves in the foot on Sunday at Brest. While the Monegasques managed to get a highly important 2-0 victory, they also picked up two red cards.

Eliesse Ben Seghir and Wilfried Singo both picked up stoppage time straight reds and they’ll miss Wednesday’s match vs Lille. Disciplinary issues and all, Monaco’s performance at Brest was imperfect but enough to move up to second place in the league.

Denis Zakaria scored on a brilliant curler, while Takumi Minamino doubled their lead in the second half. Monaco managed their second straight clean sheet, but they’ve had at least one player sent off in three of their last four games. In good news, Breel Embolo made his first appearance of the season, as the striker came off the bench.

Embolo tore his ACL days before the season started and the Swiss international scored 12 Ligue 1 goals last season. This season, Wissam Ben Yedder leads Monaco in the Ligue 1 stats, with 11 goals.

However, he hasn’t scored since early February and players like Maghnes Akliouche, Minamino and Folarin Balogun have picked up the slack. Unfortunately, Aleksandr Golovin is out for the season with an ankle injury, while Ismail Jakobs and Caio Henrique remain out.

Lille Respond to Conference League Disappointment

Lille fell to Aston Villa in the UEFA Europa Conference League Quarter-Final in heartbreaking fashion. Les Dogues trailed Aston Villa 2-1 heading into the second leg, but Lille led 2-0 at home deep into the second half.

Matty Cash got a goal back for Villa, which sent the match into extra time, where Emi Martinez broke French hearts once more. The World Cup winning keeper was the hero as Villa won 4-3 on penalties.

Paulo Fonseca’s Lille responded with a 1-0 win over Strasbourg on Sunday to keep themselves right in the thick of the Champions League race. Les Dogues’ recent Ligue 1 scores have been impressive, as they’ve won their last three matches and are unbeaten in their last six.

Jonathan David scored the lone goal on Sunday and he’s now at 17 Ligue 1 goals for the season.

With their three-game Ligue 1 winning streak, Lille only trails third-placed Brest by one point. With three road matches remaining of five, it will be difficult for Lille to secure one of the three automatic Champions League places, but it’s certainly possible.

They are just 3-7-4 on the road in Ligue 1 this season. At the moment, Samuel Umtiti and Andrej Ilic are injured but they have just two starts between them this season.

Match Analysis & Odds

The latest Monaco vs Lille odds imply that hosts Monaco are the more likely side to extend their winning streak to four matches. Monaco come in as +125 favorites for Wednesday’s match, but they’ve been better on the road than at home this season.

Meanwhile, Lille have lost three of their last five Ligue 1 road games.

Les Dogues are +200 underdogs for this one, while a draw sits at +260 odds. With Ben Yedder’s struggles, it’ll be interesting to see if Embolo plays a bigger role off the bench for Monaco. If he can close out the season strongly, he may even have a chance to make Switzerland’s Euro 2024 roster.

Monaco pk, -0.5 displays even odds, while Lille pk, +0.5 is priced at -110. Bettors can also take over 2.5, 3 goals at -110. Lille are on a 15 game scoring streak, in all competitions, after all.
