Baltimore Ravens 2023 Future Odds:

It's Playoffs or Bust for Lamar Jackson and Co.

The Baltimore Ravens have been a model of consistency, with four playoff appearances over the last five NFL seasons. After inking quarterback Lamar Jackson to a record contract extension, expectations remain high. But they’ll need to contend with the always difficult AFC North.

Let’s break down some key 2023 Baltimore Ravens stats in our team preview.

All Eyes on Lamar

Remember the contract drama that surrounded Lamar Jackson throughout most of last season? Finally – yes, finally – that can be put to rest. The Baltimore Ravens paid the former NFL MVP handsomely this offseason, agreeing to a five-year extension worth $260 million, including $185 million guaranteed.

At $52 million per year, Jackson, 26, is now the league’s highest-paid quarterback. But there’s more. The Ravens also upgraded his supporting cast, signing Odell Beckham Jr. and drafting Zay Flowers in the first round out of Boston College. Thus, this year’s offense should be significantly better, especially on the outside.

Jackson, of course, will need to stay healthy. There have been increasing concerns about his durability. He’s missed a total of 11 games over the last two seasons, including last year’s 24-17 Wild Card loss to the rival Cincinnati Bengals, per NFL scores. Obviously, Baltimore won’t go very far without him.

Expectations remain high, as they generally are under head coach John Harbaugh. He’s averaged 9.8 wins over 15 seasons in Baltimore, finishing under .500 only twice. The 2023 Baltimore Ravens stats should be strong.

Super Bowl Odds: As Goes Jackson, So Goes Baltimore

The Ravens paid Jackson a boatload of money to elevate them. And he’ll do that, but how much? His talent is undeniable, but there’s always a major risk involved with run-first quarterbacks. If he stays healthy, the Ravens will be in good hands.

The talent around him is better, and that includes new offensive coordinator Todd Monken. There’s a lot of pressure on Jackson to live up to being the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback. If he does that, the Ravens will be in the mix for a Super Bowl. It’s why they’re priced +2000, slightly down from opening odds of +1800. But if not? Both the Ravens — and their fans — will be pretty disappointed.

Conference Odds: In the Mix

Until proven otherwise, the AFC continues to run through Kansas City. It’s no wonder the Chiefs are a +350 favorite to get back to the Super Bowl. As long as Patrick Mahomes stays healthy, they’re positioned as well, if not better, than anybody in the NFL. Elite quarterback play has elevated Buffalo and Cincinnati as well, and don’t forget New York, which should be markedly better after upgrading from Zack Wilson to Aaron Rodgers.

The Ravens currently hold the fifth-best odds in the AFC at +1000. At the very least, they’re in the mix. That’s all that matters at this time. If they can keep Jackson upright, they’ll be talented enough to beat anyone.

Division Odds: It’s Anyone’s Guess Beyond Cincy

Historically, the AFC North has been one of the more competitive divisions in the NFL. Three different NFL teams have won it the last four years.

Cincinnati is a +125 favorite for now, and rightfully so. Outside of Mahomes, is there a better quarterback than Joe Burrow? It seems to be a matter of when, not if, the Bengals finally break through to win a Super Bowl. But Baltimore isn’t far behind. Harbaugh and Co. are poised to post strong 2023 Baltimore Ravens stats.

Regular Season Wins: Double-Digits the Goal

The Ravens went 10-7 last year, hitting double-digit wins for the fourth time in five years. Moving forward, that remains the expectation. Projections have increased from 9.5 to 10 wins the last few months. Given the schedule, it feels like a pretty realistic target. Pro Football Network ranked it as the 11th-easiest schedule in the NFL. It can’t hurt.

Baltimore is a 9.5-point favorite against Houston in the Sept. 10 opener. The Ravens then face divisional opponents three of the next four weeks. If they can hold their own early in the season, they’ll be in good shape down the homestretch. The one drawback is that the division’s tough.

To Make Playoffs: That’s the Expectation

The Ravensare a perennial playoff team. After retaining Jackson, anything short of that will be a massive disappointment. They are built to win now.

Side Bets

Again, it’s all about Jackson. The Ravens star is +1200 to win his second NFL MVP. He’s also +2000 to take home Offensive Player of the Year. Barring injury, he’ll be in the mix for both awards. Keep that in mind when contemplating what NFL prop bets to make.
