Chicago Bears 2023 Future Odds: Super Bowl & Player Props

All Aboard the Bears’ Bandwagon

No team is looking cooler coming off the offseason than the Chicago Bears. The team finished last in 2022 but the 2023 Chicago Bears stats could be drastically improved. Chicago upgraded heavily during the time off and quarterback Justin Fields is a popular breakout candidate. As such, the team’s outright odds indicate a team that is more than ready to make a playoff run.

Chicago’s Hype Train: Hit the Brakes or Full Steam Ahead?

There is good reason to be optimistic if you’re a Bears fan. Chicago’s brass invested heavily on making sure Fields can take his game to the next level. If he can, he may just make Chicago a playoff team. Despite finishing with the worst record in 2022 (3-14), Fields proved he is a star in the making. But he’s got plenty of work to do.

The 23-year-old threw for 2,242 yards and rushed for 1,143. He had 25 combined touchdowns and of Chicago’s three wins, two were due to his heroics. Fields did all this despite having one of the worst receiving corps, a poor offensive line (he led the league with 55 sacks), and the NFL’s worst defense. This is why Chicago finished with fewer than half of its 6.5 regular-season win totals.

Fields should now put up more prolific 2023 Chicago Bears stats. He’ll lead the NFL’s top rushing attack. The improvements to the passing game and the defense will make Chicago more efficient.

D.J. Moore is a true number-one receiver with 1,000+ receiving yards in three of his five seasons. Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards are significant additions to the linebacking corps while guard Nate Davis and tackle Darnell Wright should solidify the once-porous offensive line.

The Bears’ previous owner, Aaron Rodgers, also left the division. This means Chicago could just leapfrog Green Bay and contend with Minnesota and Detroit for the division title. Chicago’s outright odds are shortening and this team is going from an also-ran to a playoff threat.

Super Bowl Odds: Not Just Yet

The Bears are the type of team that finishes just above .500 and sneaks into the playoffs but is feared by the other contenders. Fields’s dual-threat ability makes him a gamebreaker and it’s not crazy to envision him leading his Bears to an upset over a higher seed. But winning the Super Bowl?

At 50-1, the Bears are in the same category as the Vikings and Steelers. Teams like the Seahawks, Saints, and Broncos have shorter odds. Depending how Fields performs, the Bears have “value” as they could be just as good if not better than many teams listed above them.

Still, it might be throwing money away as winning the Super Bowl may not happen just yet.

Conference Odds: Dangerous Underdogs

As mentioned, the Bears will be live underdogs if they can get to the postseason. The NFC is not that strong of a conference. And other than Philadelphia and San Francisco, every other “contender” is fallible. Chicago lacks experience. But it is young and talented with nothing to lose.

Still, 22-1 may not be long enough to convince non-diehard fans to bet on Chicago to upset Philly or San Francisco. The Chicago Bears standings may also place it in the Wild Card spot so it could face either team right away. While Chicago could do the unthinkable and beat one of them, its inexperience may still lead them to a loss deeper into the playoffs.

Division Odds: On the Prowl

But while Chicago’s odds of making it to the Super Bowl are fantastic at best, it has a realistic chance of finishing atop the NFL division standings. At +350, the oddsmakers give Chicago a 22.2% chance to do it. That might be underestimating the Bears considering they may have the best quarterback in the division and the easiest schedule.

Chicago is expected to do better than its 0-6 record against the NFC North. The public is betting Chicago to get over 2.5 wins against its division rivals this season. The Packers are now without Rodgers. The Vikings could regress. And the Lions, despite looking formidable to end 2022, have struggled to sustain success in its history.

Regular Season Wins: Starting Fast

Chicago could start the season strong thanks to its schedule. Four of the Bears’ first five opponents finished at .500 or worse in 2022. Other than the Chiefs in Week 3, Chicago could be favored in these games. The Bears can then build on its potential 4-1 record until Week 11 where things could get testy as the playoff race heats up.

Overall, the team has enough for its 8.5 regular-season win projection. The lines have trended towards the team beating it, assuming Fields stays healthy. General manager Ryan Poles made the offensive line a priority for that reason.

To Make Playoffs: It’s How You Finish

At +150, the NFL odds imply Chicago has a 40% shot of making the playoffs. This line will quickly shorten if the Bears can start strong. But plenty of teams have started hot then limped to the end of the season. Injuries should be expected and a quarterback like Fields, who runs a lot, could take a few licks.

Week 11 onwards will be a test for Chicago as it has three consecutive NFL division matchups. It also visits Cleveland and will play the Falcons, who also made noticeable improvements, on Christmas Eve. These games could clinch or eliminate Chicago from playoff contention.

Side Bets: The First Superstar Quarterback

With all due respect to Jim McMahon and every other Bears starting quarterback, none were legitimate stars. Fields has a chance to be that guy and could even be the first to break the 4,000 passing yards threshold. The Ohio State star said he intends to do that. Combined with his abounding rushing totals, he may just win the Offensive Player of the Year at 20-1.

If the Bears finish with 10+ wins and win the division, Fields to win MVP at 16-1 is not a bad bet either. He will continue to put up ridiculous 2023 Chicago Bears stats and be rewarded in some regard.
