Handicapping The Super Bowl LVIII: Double Result Prop
Bet On First and Second-Half Results, 49ers +145 to Win both

We were privileged and honored to be at the Super Bowl Opening Night from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada (Technically Paradise, Nevada), If opening night is any indication, the San Francisco 49ers will have a 70/30 home field advantage.
Betting on the Super Bowl will be among the most popular in history is our prediction. Aside from side and total, we’re convinced that we’re given two weeks between games so we can properly go through each Super Bowl LVIII props with a fine tooth comb.
We’re doing that once again by examining the double result prop. To win, you must properly predict what happens in the first and second half. The favorite is San Francisco to win the first half and the game (+145) followed by the Chiefs to do the same (+190).
Current NFL odds show San Francisco as a 2.5-point favorite with a total of 47.5.
Let’s jump into this Super Bowl prop bet by dissecting each team’s 2024 schedule followed by our official recommendation.
Niners Road Gives Few Clues To Winning This Prop
Let’s assume that the San Francisco 49ers are your pick to win Sunday and you want to incorporate that belief into this particular Super Bowl LVIII prop. As mentioned the 49ers leading after the first and second half with payback +145.
Not too bad but the one that intrigues us from a Niner standpoint is Kansas City winning the first half and San Francisco the game. That payoff is a little more attractive at +600. So why gravitate there? You could easily point to the NFC Championship game where the 49ers were down 24-7 at the half before outscoring the Lions 27-7 in the second half to win 34-31.
Perhaps because it’s a recent result the oddsmakers put that option high on the list but the question is, should it be? Before that game, there was never an instance in 2024 where the Niners were down at the half and then came back to win until the NFC Championship game, mostly because they were only down at the half just three times this year, losing two of the three to the Minnesota Vikings (Week 7) and the Cincinnati Bengals (Week 8) but we want to dive into something that can happen and gives us a nice payout.
Three prop options result in the Niners winning with a first-half tie and a Niner win being the longest shot at +1600. If you’re betting on the Forty Niners to win, we think the +600 gives a legit chance, and it’s apparent the oddsmakers feel the same way with it being the third overall option on the entire Super Bowl LVIII prop double result bet.
We’re Not Going to Differ From Chiefs’ Perspective
We’re getting better odds if we’d like to wager on the Niners winning the first half and then losing the game (+650). Monitoring as many NFL scores as we have, the narrative is clear, what happens in the first half doesn’t mean it going to in the second. We suppose that is why the option that looks to be most attractive from both sides is the one we go against the first-half result.
Like the Niners, Kansas has shown in the postseason that they could turn a 17-13 Buffalo advantage in the divisional round into a 27-24 victory.
The Chiefs have had a little less practice at being down at the half before rallying to win, with week 17 against the Cincinnati Bengals the only time this season that’s occurred. We think the second option for both NFL teams is the best way to wager on this prop if you’re set on betting on your team to win.
Not Ready To Give Out Official Super Bowl Play But…
We think we’ve given out the safe option on this prop from both team’s perspectives but if you don’t have a dog in the fight Sunday, Kansas City winning the first half and then the game is the option we would target. A winning ticket would pay +190.
This is our lean right now and keep in mind this doesn’t mean that Kansas City has to win both halves by score, it just means that have to be leading at the half and win the game. A winning result will likely require Kansas City to have a double-digit lead at the half and then hang on to win.
If you want to cover yourself, play the previous Forty-Niners pick with San Fran and not KC winning the game (+600).
