Super Bowl LVIII Bets: Cincinnati Dominating Early Action

Bengals Expected to Return to Super Bowl by Early Bettors

Super Bowl LVIII is just under seven months away. But that has not stopped the public from throwing down wagers on the big game. As of this July 14, most of the action has been focused on a handful of teams. The Cincinnati Bengals lead the pack as 2022’s runner-up and is taking in plenty of Super Bowl bets starting with the Super Bowl matchups.

Bengals Back to The Super Bowl?

The Bengals fell just short of another Super Bowl appearance last season. The team lost to the Chiefs in the Conference Championship game. But that only led to the team bolstering its roster in the offseason. Cincinnati signed four-time Pro Bowl tackle Orlando Brown Jr. away from the Chiefs.

Cincinnati also re-tooled its secondary. Gone are Eli Apple, Jessie Bates III, and Vonn Bell. In their place are Nick Scott and Sidney Jones. DJ Turner also comes in as a second-round pick in the NFL Draft. And to address the pass rush, Cincinnati took edge rusher Myles Murphy with its first-round pick.

Most notably, Cincinnati’s best players return. Quarterback Joe Burrow will once again have the best trio of receivers while two-time Pro Bowler Trey Hendrickson returns on the defense. The Bengals are gaining plenty of bets for a good cause and may just be the 2024 Super Bowl winners.

Bengals Facing Either Philadelphia or San Francisco Per Odds

Early reports show that nearly 10% of sportsbook wagers have been on Cincinnati to make the Super Bowl face either Philadelphia or San Francisco. The Bengals-Eagles matchup, lined at 20-1, is the most popular bet online with over 5% being staked. Not far is the Bengals-49ers matchup at 25-1 receiving 4.1% of the public’s tickets.

The Bengals are just behind Kansas City (+350) and Buffalo (+450) at 5-1 to make it back to the Super Bowl. It’s an interesting line given that the Bengals arguably got better than both KC and Buffalo in the offseason. Cincinnati also defeated Buffalo in the Divisional Round and hold a win over the Chiefs two playoffs ago.

As for Philadelphia and San Francisco, they are the favorites to come out of the NFC at +325 and +375, respectively. These teams faced each other in the NFC Championship with the Eagles beating San Francisco after the Niners sustained several injuries. Either way, both are popular Super Bowl bets to represent their conference.

Can’t Count Out Defending Champions

Of course, Cincinnati likely has to get past Kansas City again if it’s to return to the Super Bowl. The Chiefs remain a top Super Bowl bet. A rematch with Philadelphia is the third-most-popular Super Bowl matchup wager. Kansas City edged Philadelphia in what was one of the more memorable NFL scores in a Super Bowl.

The champions may have lost Brown but did sign Jawaan Taylor to replace him. The tackle could be just as good if not better than his predecessor. Adding Charles Omenihu to the pass rush is also widely lauded by pundits as is adding two excellent edge defenders in the draft.
