UFC 291 Headlined by Poirier vs Gaethje Props

The BMF Title Returns

UFC 291 has a lot of great fights, and we look at Poirier vs Gaethje props for the BMF title fight.

The UFC main event isn’t even an actual title, but there is so much popularity, it was given the UFC main card spot.

Poirier and Gaethje are the baddest fighters on the planet, so bettors should expect nothing short of spectacular.

Poirier Favored to Win

Poirier rightfully holds the top spot in the Poirier vs Gaethje props markets due to his recent victories.

Just eight months ago, he impressively submitted Michael Chandler at UFC 281, demonstrating a remarkable comeback after his devastating loss to Charles Oliveira.

Poirier’s record is nearly flawless, as he convincingly defeated Conor McGregor with a first-round TKO in 2021 and followed it up with another second-round TKO win over the Irishman just seven months earlier.

Poirier has much more to lose, chances of getting another title shot compared to Gaethje, who might consider retiring if he faces a loss, as stated by Matt Brown.

“Gaethje has to know that he’s on his last run, and Poirier probably doesn’t feel a whole lot different,” Brown said. “He’s got to know that he doesn’t have a lot left, but I think Gaethje is gonna be fighting for a little bit more, and I think that may be the difference-maker.”

It won’t be easy for either fighter to win by knockout, but Poirier would be more likely based on UFC results. He is a +110 chance to win by KO, TKO or submission, which is a value price for the favorite.

For a little more value, bettors could lock in Poirer to win in the fourth round, which pays a healthy +1100.

Never Count Out Gaethje

Despite being labeled as the underdog in Poirier vs Gaethje props, Gaethje has always carried the mindset of an underdog throughout his career.

With an impressive record of 24 wins and only four losses, he has engaged in some grueling battles. Unfortunately, his losses came at inopportune moments, and despite winning the interim title, he could not secure the championship belt.

Even though markets place him at +120, betting against Gaethje is always a challenging decision, and the +450 for him to win on points is a value bet.

We don’t see Gaethje ending the fight early. He has lost some of his knockout power, and Poirier isn’t easy to put away.

He has plenty of heart, and he wants to fight for the iconic title.

“It’s complete separate from the actual championship. It’s really iconic,” Gaethje said. “There’s only been two guys in the world that’s ever fought for it. We’ll be two out of four guys now, and I think it does great things for legacy. That’s ultimately what we’re here to build, our legacy.”

The fight to go the distance is +165, which is better odds than expected.
