UFC Vegas 66 Odds Can’t Split Main Event

UFC Vegas 66 odds have Jared Cannonier and Sean Strickland locked at -115 to win the main event in the middleweight division on Saturday.
It couldn’t be any closer with Cannonier vs Strickland odds and we’re expecting a close contest in the Octagon.
They are pushing for a potential title fight in 2023, so everything is at stake for the classy MMA fighters.

Cannonier to Sound Off
The 38-year-old doesn’t have long left in the UFC, but after being soundly beaten by Israel Adesanya for the title at UFC 276, this will be his last chance.
Adesanya will get his rematch for the title, so if Cannonier beats Strickland, he will have to wait his turn. Therefore, he could be pushing 40 before he’s given another chance at the belt.
He was dominated by Adesanya and he couldn’t get off his power punches. Facing Strickland could be a similar result because of the styles, and although Strickland isn’t close to being as smart as Adesanya, Cannonier will need to close the gap.
The UFC schedule has given him five months to recover and he could come back a stronger and better-prepared fighter.
Fellow fighter Curtis Blaydes believes Cannonier gets the win.
“[I think] Cannonier [will win]. He has the power to put Strickland away and Strickland, as we’ve seen, he doesn’t really move a whole lot, he’s just coming at you. So if you’re gonna walk into Cannonier’s overhand, I like Cannonier overhand over Strickland’s durability,” Blaydes said.
Based on his knockout win against Derek Brunson in February, he has every chance to return to that form. It only takes one punch and he’s got better one-punch power than most in the division.

Strickland With Point to Prove
Strickland was given a beat down by Alex Pereira at UFC 276 before the Brazilian would go on to win the title from Adesanya.
Pereira was reportedly scared to fight Strickland, but that lessened when Strickland opened his mouth.
“Talking about my last fight, [Strickland] had 25 fights, was doing well in the UFC, ranked No. 4 in the middleweight rankings, he’s dangerous, he’s experienced. I was scared, but when I heard him talk, I relaxed a little bit. He is a good fighter and an experienced one, but he was talking some stuff that didn’t make any sense.”
He is 25-4 overall, so his record speaks for itself, but he needs to prove a point on Saturday. The American looked better when beating Jack Hermansson in February, but that form wasn’t franked with Hermansson being subsequently knocked out.
We sense a bit of panic for Strickland, who has beaten the likes of Uriah Hall and Jack Marshman over the last few years. They’re not exactly the biggest names in the sport, so the overrated tag has been thrown around.
However, as UFC Vegas 66 odds suggest, he’s still respected in the middleweight division and he just needs to focus.
We’re picking Strickland to win and get back on track. He is a quality fighter but he needs to let his fists to the talking. He’s not the smartest but Cannonier’s main weapon, his right hand, could be negated.
If Strickland can avoid the big punchers, he’s more than likely to get his hand raised, but it should come via decision.
