Soccer Shocker: Neymar’s Surprise Move To Saudi Al Hilal FC
Neymar To Play for Saudi
In a twist that has sent ripples through the soccer world, Brazilian superstar Neymar -after making a daring offer to some of Europe’s top clubs and being snubbed- sealed his switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Al-Hilal FC. Paying Neymar to play for Saudi is really a thing now, yes it is! The Ligue 1 standings for PSG are likely to be rewritten very differently now.
The move stunned fans and pundits alike, since the soccer sensation had first reached out to Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Manchester United, hoping to secure a spot with one of these powerhouse teams.
Clubs Decline: A Bold Move Snubbed for Financial Reasons
Reports have emerged, revealing that Neymar left no stone unturned in his quest for a new soccer home.
Before his unexpected move to Al-Hilal FC, the Brazilian icon personally contacted a roster of soccer giants, aiming to reignite his career on a grand stage. Sources indicate that Neymar extended his hand to Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Manchester United, hoping to earn a spot in their line-ups.
However, despite his immense talent and reputation, Neymar’s proposition was met with hesitation from all corners. Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester City each turned down the chance to acquire the Brazilian sensation, all of which led Neymar to play for Saudi.
Of course, the prime reason behind their refusal was the astronomical transfer fee and salary demands attached to Neymar’s name. These financial constraints proved to be insurmountable hurdles for even the biggest clubs in European soccer, with the Ligue 1 stats left to show for this.
All of which left only Al Hilal FC… and he hit the jackpot.
Controversy Abounds
Financial details have started to emerge. Neymar’s transfer to Al-Hilal FC is projected to rake in a staggering 120 million euros, along with substantial bonuses. Moreover, the prolific striker is set to hit the jackpot with a jaw-dropping salary ranging between 300 and 400 million euros over the span of two years.
Still, he’s still behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s salary. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner gets a £177m yearly salary, which turns out to be the highest contract in sports history.
Critics are raising eyebrows at Neymar’s decision, reminiscent of his move from Barcelona to PSG—a move that proved lucrative for his bank account but left his trophy room wanting. (On the gossip front, his strained relationship with fellow superstar Kylian Mbappe has also come to light). Notably, there were indications that Neymar was once a target for Bayern Munich during Pep Guardiola’s tenure, but the deal fell through due to the club’s earlier commitment to Mario Götze.
Now that everything is set for Neymar to play for Saudi, there is more stuff showing through in the controversy department: apparently, Neymar will get 500,000 euros for every story or post he uploads to his social media promoting Saudi Arabia; gets a private plane at his disposal; and gets a fully-staffed mansion.
Some will like it, some will shun it, and still some more will not give a rat’s butt. It is how it is.
