Current NASCAR Standings - 2023 Season

🏁 Verizon 200 History & Highlights

The NASCAR Verizon 200 at the Brickyard joined the Cup Series schedule for the 2021 season. Prior to that first event, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway held the Brickyard 400 from 1994 through 2020. The first edition of the race in 1994 was the most-attended NASCAR event in history with more than 250,000 spectators. For the 2018 and 2019 seasons, the race was the Cup Series regular-season finale. The last edition of the race in 2020 saw Kevin Harvick take his second consecutive win at the event.

Roger Penske bought Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2019 and subsequently moved the race to earlier in the schedule in 2020. That change meant the weekend is a doubleheader of IndyCar and NASCAR events. Organizers also announced the race would change from the oval layout to the road course layout used for IndyCar’s GMR Grand Prix.

Road course standout A.J. Allmendinger won the first edition of the race in 2021 which ended in NASCAR overtime. In 2022, the race ended in overtime once again, with Tyler Reddick getting the win.
