Bundesliga Matchday 31 Odds, Preview: Bayern Back on Top

Freiburg vs. Leipzig Rematch

Bayern Back on Top

With a victory over Hertha and Borussia Dortmund’s draw vs. Bochum, Bayern Munich are back on top of the Bundesliga table. The Bavarians are just one point ahead of rivals Dortmund, which promises to make the last few weeks of the season intriguing. Fans eagerly await the upcoming matches as they closely follow the Bundesliga schedule, hoping for thrilling encounters and potential twists in the title race. Both Bayern and Dortmund are expected to get wins this weekend but this season has proven anything can happen. Meanwhile, Freiburg will look to bounce back from an embarrassing 5-1 defeat to RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal Semi-Final. The two sides will contest a Bundesliga rematch, which is an important game for the top four race. We’ll take a look at the most relevant Bundesliga Matchday 31 odds in this weekend’s preview.

Games of the Week

SCF SC Freiburg vs RB Leipzig RBL

Date, time:

RB Leipzig scored four first-half goals in Tuesday’s DFB-Pokal Semi-Final. The match finished 5-1 and defending champions Leipzig are back in the final for a third straight year. They’ll await the winner of Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt. On Saturday, Freiburg will get a shot at revenge in the Bundesliga as they look to stay in the top four.

Currently, fourth-placed Freiburg are just two points ahead of fifth-placed Leipzig. Bundesliga predictions tend to imply that Leipzig have a slightly better chance of finishing the season in the top four.

Leipzig are road favorites for this match as they display even odds to cover and win. They have the more dangerous attacking players in this one as Dani Olmo, Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai caused all sorts of problems for Freiburg on Tuesday. With Tuesday’s win, Leipzig are now unbeaten in their last eight matches vs. Freiburg across all competitions. Four of those matches have finished in 1-1 draws, though. Another draw comes in at +260 odds.

SC Freiburg +0.5 sits at -120 odds and the Breisgau Brazilians also show +270 odds to win the match. Freiburg last defeated Leipzig in 2019 and a draw would be a fine result for them as they pursue their first-ever Champions League appearance.

Freiburg have previously lost by four or more goals on three other occasions this season. However, they’ve bounced back each time, as they haven’t lost consecutive matches this season, in all competitions. Even after Leipzig’s outburst on Tuesday, under 2.5 goals are priced at -115 odds.

FCA Augsburg vs Union Berlin FCU

Date, time:

With four games to play, Augsburg are not at all guaranteed safety yet. FCA are in 13th place but are just three points outside of the relegation playoff spot.

They haven’t won a Bundesliga match for two months and it won’t be easy to defeat Union Berlin on Saturday. Third-placed Union are vying for a first-ever Champions League berth and could very well pull it off. Other than a crucial match vs. SC Freiburg, Union’s remaining matches are vs. teams in the bottom half.

The Bundesliga Matchday 31 odds list Union as 0.5-goal favorites for Saturday’s match. The visitors sit at both +125 ATS and moneyline odds and managed a scoreless draw vs. Bayer Leverkusen in their last match.

Augsburg have drawn their last two matches and another draw comes in at +235 odds here. Augsburg’s number one keeper, Rafael Gikiewicz, has missed the last few matches with a shoulder injury and he could miss out once again on Saturday. That would mean Tomas Koubek starts in goal. Regardless, Augsburg haven’t kept a shutout in any of their last nine Bundesliga matches.

Here, under 2.5 goals show -140 odds, though. After all, Union have conceded the fewest goals in the league this season. Defender Diego Leite will be suspended for this match, which could weaken Union’s backline a bit.

Although Union have finished higher in the table in recent seasons, Augsburg are unbeaten in the last five meetings of this fixture. Augsburg +0.5 displays -145 odds and the hosts also sit at +230 moneyline odds. November’s reverse fixture finished in a 2-2 draw.

SVW Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich FCB

Date, time:

Bayern Munich are back in first place in the Bundesliga team standings and will hold on to their lead for dear life in their last four matches. Saturday’s clash is against Werder Bremen, who have the Bundesliga’s leading scorer, Niclas Fullkrug. Although Fullkrug has excelled this season, Werder have had a difficult second half of the season.

They’ve won just once since February and have conceded in eight straight matches. Plus, only Bochum and Hertha have conceded more goals than Werder Bremen this season.

As the highest scoring team in the league, Bayern will be licking their chops heading into this one. They put six goals on Werder back in November and are unbeaten in the lost 28 meetings of this fixture.

Heading into this one, Bayern are 1.5-goal road favorites. The Bavarians display -130 odds to cover the spread and -300 odds to complete the season sweep.

Leon Goretzka is suspended for this match, though, and center back Dayot Upamecano is out. Werder Bremen, who lost 2-1 to relegation-threatened Schalke last weekend, are +625 moneyline underdogs. They last were victorious in this fixture in 2008.

Werder Bremen +1.5 sits at +110 odds, while a draw shows +550 odds for this one. At this stage, anything less than four straight wins for Bayern to close out the season would be a big disappointment. On Matchday 30, they dominated Hertha BSC to the tune of 82 percent possession.

Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry were Bayern’s goalscorers in the shutout victory. Werder Bremen have also been the Bundesliga’s worst home team this season, with a 5-1-9 record. Their home matches have averaged 3.27 goals per game and over 3.5 goals are priced at -120 odds for this one.

BVB Borussia Dortmund vs Wolfsburg WOB

Date, time:

Borussia Dortmund squandered their first-place standing by drawing 1-1 at VfL Bochum last weekend. Dortmund are now one point behind rivals Bayern Munich with just four games to go. On Sunday, they’ll host Wolfsburg in a must-win match.

Dortmund were previously on an eight-game winning streak in this fixture before Wolfsburg’s 2-0 win in November. Wolfsburg have looked incredibly dangerous in recent weeks, with eight goals in their last two games.

Only two points behind sixth-placed Bayer Leverkusen, a strong finish to the season could mean European football for Wolfsburg.

While both sides have a lot to play for, Dortmund are the clear favorites for Sunday’s match. They are one-goal favorites, at -135 Bundesliga Matchday 31 odds to cover and -200 odds to win the match.

BVB have scored in 16 straight Bundesliga matches since failing to score at Wolfsburg last time. Although Wolfsburg are one of the few teams to beat Dortmund this season, they’re +450 underdogs heading into this match. Die Wolfe last won on the road at Dortmund in 2012 and Wolfsburg +1 shows +115 odds.

A draw wouldn’t be a great result for either side and one appears relatively unlikely. The Bundesliga odds price a deadlock at +400. Heading into this match, Paulo Otavio and Lukas Nmecha are injured for Wolfsburg.

Meanwhile, Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck is questionable. Both sides have been scoring with ease recently, but the current odds price under 3.5 goals at -130.
