PSG Unbeaten Run Continues

PSG typically dominate their Ligue 1 opposition but Rennes are one of the few clubs that seem to be able to hang around with them. PSG recently extended their unbeaten streak to 25 matches, in all competitions and will be looking for another result here. We’ll go through the PSG vs Rennes odds with a spot in the Coupe de France Final on the line.

PSG vs Rennes Head-to-Head

This is the third chance for bettors to take the PSG vs Rennes odds this season. PSG and Rennes last met in February and visitors Rennes managed to pull off a 1-1 draw at the Parc des Princes. After Amine Gouiri put Rennes ahead, Goncalo Ramos scored a 90th minute penalty to equalize for the Parisians. Gouiri also scored in the reverse fixture this season but PSG won 3-1. Notably, Rennes haven’t lost in their last two matches on the road at PSG.

PSG Win Fifth Straight Ligue 1 Classique

PSG put a 24 game unbeaten streak on the line on Sunday when they traveled to Marseille for Le Classique. Gianluigi Donnarumma was called into action quite frequently and the Italian shot stopper kept PSG in the match. Unfortunately, defender Lucas Beraldo received a controversial straight red card for a challenge on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the first half. Playing down a man, PSG hung around.

In the second half, PSG hit Marseille on the counter for the first goal of the match. In a play that looked like a training drill, Vitinha played a couple of give-and-gos with Ousmane Dembele and the Portuguese midfielder calmly slotted home for his seventh goal of the campaign.

Goncalo Ramos doubled PSG’s lead in the 85th minute and the match finished 2-0 to the visitors. Defender Milan Skriniar returned after a four month injury layoff and he’ll be needed in Ligue 1 with Beraldo suspended. Beraldo is suspended for this match as well though and Skriniar could start at center back alongside Danilo Pereira. Regardless, PSG have outscored their opponents 19-3 in four Coupe de France fixtures. Kylian Mbappe leads the Coupe de France, with seven goals in four matches.

Mbappe has scored in each Coupe de France match this season and has also registered three assists. Mbappe scored the opener in the 3-1 Quarter-Final victory vs. Nice but he went off early in Sunday’s match at Marseille without a goal or assist. PSG have also defeated Brest, Orleans and US Revel in the Coupe de France.

While Škriniar just returned to action, captain and defender Marquinhos is out with an achilles issue for the Rennes match. Attacker Bradley Barcola will also be out on Wednesday with a hamstring issue.

Rennes Have Clean Bill of Health

Rennes were simply off the pace when they went to Strasbourg in Ligue 1 last weekend. Goalkeeper Steve Mandanda had a lot to do and had to make some big saves to keep Strasbourg out in the first half. Pressure continued to mount, though, and Marvin Senaya put Strasbourg ahead in the 71st minute. Two minutes later, Jeremy Sebas doubled Strasbourg’s lead when he rounded Mandanda and finished from a tight angle. Rennes failed to put a single shot on target in the match and fell 2-0.

The loss undoubtedly stung for coach Julien Stephan, as he managed Strasbourg from 2021 to 2023. Rennes have also lost just three of 16 matches in 2024, in all competitions. Their Coupe de France schedule hasn’t been terribly difficult thus far as they drew fourth tier club Le Puy Foot 43 in the Quarter-Final and won 3-1. Rennes also defeated Sochaux 6-1 in the Round of 16, took down Marseille in penalties in the Round of 32 and beat Guingamp 2-0 in the Round of 64.

Benjamin Bourigeaud has been one of the best players in the competition, with six goal contributions. The midfielder is Rennes’ leading scorer this season, in all competitions. Meanwhile, forward Arnaud Kalimuendo has scored four goals in the Coupe de France alone. No Rennes players are currently listed on the injury report for Wednesday’s match, which is a major boost.

PSG vs Rennes Match Analysis & Odds

Looking at the PSG vs Rennes odds to qualify for the Coupe de France Final, it appears PSG have a major advantage. They’re -450 favorites to get the job done, whether that’s in 90 minutes or penalties. Bettors can also take PSG’s moneyline at -280 odds but the last time they met Rennes in the Coupe de France, it ended in SRFC lifting a trophy.

In 2019, Rennes defeated PSG in penalties in the Final but SRFC are +325 underdogs to go through to their first final since then. They’re also +650 underdogs to win this match in 90 minutes but they have won at the Parc des Princes as recently as March 2023. A draw comes in at +390 odds and Rennes managed the feat at PSG back in February.

With Luis Enrique having to adjust his backline with Beraldo suspended, expect Rennes to try to take advantage. Notably, last Sunday was the first time in eight matches Rennes failed to score a goal. Meanwhile, PSG have won all of their previous Coupe de France games by two goals or more. PSG -1.5 displays +110 odds, while Rennes -1.5 is priced at -140. Over three goals show -120 odds and it’s hard to bet against Mbappe bouncing back and getting on the scoresheet here.
