Finau Clear Top Pick with PGA Mexico Open Odds

A Wide Open PGA Tournament

The Mexico Open hasn’t attracted many of the world’s best players, with only Tony Finau the star attraction.

However, PGA Mexico Open odds are there to be taken, and there is plenty of value available for bettors.

Finau headlines the field at +650, and he’s the only player attracting attention with golf betting markets.

Course: Vidanta Vallarta

Length: 7,456 yards (6,818 m)
Prize Fund: US$8,100,000
Month Played February
Format: Stroke Play
Par: 71

Cream Rises to the Top

Finau is the best player in the field, and that’s without any doubt.

The 34-year-old finished T19 at the Genesis Open last week, and the six-time PGA Tour winner is the defending Mexico Open winner.

He won by three strokes over Jon Rahm in 2023, and there is no Rahm in the field this year. There isn’t anyone close, as Nicolai Hojgaard is on the second line of betting at +1600.

If Finau plays anywhere near his best, he should put this field away with ease. He knows the course well, and he should be at the top of the PGA Tour leaderboard on Sunday afternoon.

There is a case in which Finau could have been much shorter than +650 with PGA Mexico Open odds, so bettors should take the value price.

His odds could firm throughout the week, so lock in the current price with the tournament favorite.

Olesen to Relish Opportunity

Thorbjorn Oleson doesn’t get to play on the PGA Tour often, so he could mark his mark this week.

The Danish 34-year-old comes off a win on the DP World Tour last month when beating Hojgaard, so the form checks out.
“It was still a battle out there; it got close, and you’ve got one of the most solid players (Hojgaard) right behind you, so I knew it was going to be tough, and we were tied for the lead very quickly,” Olesen said.

The +2500 is well over the odds, especially compared to Hojgaard, and given that he’s played all around the world, he shouldn’t be worried about playing in Mexico.

Olesen has been in good form to start the season, including a T8 at the Dubai Invitational and a T21 at the Dubai Desert Classic behind Rory McIlroy.

The sportsbook might have made a mistake with his odds, so cash in with the value PGA Mexico Open odds.

Fox is Tough to Catch

New Zealand’s Ryan Fox often starts well, and if he gets firing early on Thursday, he could be tough to catch.

Son of famous All Black Grant Fox, he is one of the biggest with PGA Tour standings, and he could make Vidanta look short with his length.

Winning on the PGA Tour is a dream for Fox, who was a relative latecomer to the professional circuits. I remember playing with him in the amateur ranks, and he had no ambitions of playing professionally, so he has done well to reach this level.

The 37-year-old is a four-time winner on the DP World Tour, including the 2023 BMW PGA Championship when holding off Tyrrell Hatton, so he has beaten quality fields in Europe.

Bettors get +4000 for Fox, so we can’t leave him out.

Take a Risk with Vegas

Jhonattan Vegas isn’t in the form of his life, but he has always had an ability to shoot low numbers.

If he gets off to a fast start in Mexico, he’s good enough to lead throughout. However, there is better value with him to lead after the first round.

Vegas is a +6000 chance with PGA Mexico Open odds to lead after the first round, and that’s a great prop bet to have for the latest PGA Tour tournament.

All it takes is for Vegas to make a few putts, and he’s well on his way, so include him in your golf picks.
