What are Lorient’s Odds of Delaying PSG’s Crowning

Wide Lorient vs PSG Lines Expects Latter to Clinch Title

PSG Can Clinch Title This Week

Both Lorient and PSG will desperately be looking to win when they meet on Wednesday but for vastly different reasons. Lorient enter the week in the relegation zone. They’re in 17th place in Ligue 1 and are two points outside of the relegation playoff spot and three points from safety.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Meanwhile, PSG can potentially win the title as soon as Wednesday. Should the Parisians win here and Monaco draw or lose to Lille on Wednesday, PSG will win their third straight Ligue 1 title. In an important Ligue 1 match, we’ll take a look at the Lorient vs PSG lines.

Lorient vs PSG Head-to-Head

Believe it or not, PSG are winless in their last two matches vs Lorient on the Ligue 1 schedule. These sides met on the first Matchday of the 2023-24 season and neither team could find a breakthrough in a scoreless draw.

While the Lorient vs PSG lines consistently favor PSG, this fixture has been even over the last six meetings. Both Ligue 1 teams have won two of those matches and two games have finished in draws.

Lorient on Life Support

Lorient have lost each of their last three matches and they didn’t put up much of a fight over the weekend. Nice beat Lorient 3-0 last Friday and it could have been more, as Lorient simply weren’t up for it.

Between losing the ball at the back and being structurally wide open, Lorient looked like a team destined for relegation from France’s Ligue 1. They have five games to save their top-flight status and they’re only five points away from 14th.

Still, no team has conceded more goals than Lorient this season and they last kept a clean sheet over two months ago. They have upped their game when they’ve played PSG in recent seasons but getting anything from this game is a big ask. When Ivorian striker Mohamed Bamba joined the club in January, Lorient went on a bit of a run.

Bamba scored in four straight games and Lorient won three straight in February. However, he’s currently on a five-match goal drought and Lorient are 1-1-5 in their last seven Ligue 1 games.

They’ve scored just four goals in their last seven and have conceded nearly two goals per game during that time. On Wednesday, expect Bamba Dieng, Laurent Abergel and Montassar Talbi to miss out due to injuries.

PSG Score Four in First Half…Without Mbappe

Brimming with confidence following last Tuesday’s comeback win over Barcelona in the Champions League Quarter-Final, Paris Saint-Germain scored four goals in the first half vs Lyon on Sunday. Nemanja Matic scored an own goal for Lyon just a few minutes in. Lucas Beraldo then doubled PSG’s lead in the sixth minute with a close-range finish.

Goncalo Ramos scored twice as PSG won 4-1. The Portuguese striker has found the net four times in his last three league games. Luis Enrique left Kylian Mbappe on the bench for Sunday’s match but Mbappe is still the goal-scoring leader in the French Ligue 1 statistics. He’s scored 24 times in 26 games and it looks like he’ll win the Golden Boot once again.

Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz also sat out on Sunday and should be good to go midweek. Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte and Lucas Hernandez are set to return from suspensions on Wednesday. PSG haven’t lost a Ligue 1 match since September and are 17-7-0 since then.

Lorient vs PSG Match Analysis & Odds

As Monaco show longer than even Ligue 1 odds to defeat Lille on Wednesday, PSG may clinch the title on Wednesday. Enrique will certainly want to take care of business early and start to focus on winning their first ever Champions League title.

The Lorient vs PSG lines currently price Paris Saint-Germain as -260 favorites. Taking the Monaco vs Lille odds into account, PSG have an implied 39.4 percent chance to win the title on Wednesday.

This match is just as, if not more, important for Lorient. PSG have five more chances to clinch, while every single point counts for Lorient.

Relegation can have serious consequences for the direction of a club and Lorient are running out of time. The home side are +650 underdogs and are 1-1-1 in their last three games vs PSG at the Stade du Moustoir.

A draw, listed at +450 odds, would postpone PSG’s title celebrations until the weekend at least. A point would certainly be better than nothing for Lorient and they’d have this match circled on their calendar regardless of the circumstances.

While PSG -1, -1.5 comes in at -120 odds, bettors can take Lorient +1, +1.5 at +105. Meanwhile, under 3, 3.5 goals are priced at -120 as Lorient try to score for the first time in four matches.
