MLB Tuesday Results and Recap: Brew Crew Killin It!

Bettors Won Eight of 13 Games With Late Night Surge, Favorites 6-8

Looking at the MLB standings we see our first separation at the top in the American League East where the Tampa Bay Rays (5-0) have opened up an early two-game lead over the New York Yankees (3-2) and Baltimore Orioles (3-2). In the National League East, the Atlanta Braves (4-1) lead the 3-3 New York Mets by 1.5 games.

Every other division is tight as you would expect this early in the year. In the latest MLB betting news, the Milwaukee Brewers top the moneyline betting chart after their second straight shutout, 9-0, of the New York Mets. Milwaukee is 4-1, +$311, if you wagered $100 on each of their games. The 5-0 Rays are next at +239, followed by the Cleveland Guardians at 4-2 +222.

The Kansas City Royals finally got a win but that still didn’t pull them out of the bottom of the standings losing bettors $285 early on. Let’s continue our MLB Tuesday Results recap with a deeper look at the Milwaukee Brewers’ second shutout of the New York Mets.

Milwaukee Sending Clear Message to NL, Cohen

The one team hardly anyone talked about as a contender in the National League was the Milwaukee Brewers. That’s not the case anymore as the Brew Crew is an early friend to the betting public until bookmakers catch up. There were plenty of cheeseheads to go around after Rowdy Tellez, Brian Anderson, and Garrett Mitchell lit up Max Scherzer with the long ball to give the young season its first back-to-back-to-back homers performance.

It was the first time in almost 10 years that Milwaukee had back-to-back homers. They outscored the New York Mets 19-0 in their two-game sweep and if you add in the 9-5 win against the Chicago Cubs, Sunday, the Brewers have outscored their opponents 28-5 in their last three games.

Bettors should have taken notice after 66% of the moneyline money came in on the New York Mets, a typical betting pattern after a high-profile team gets embarrassed in the first game of a two-game set, especially when you have a guy named Max Scherzer on the mound.

83% of the overall tickets were also on the Mets as a consensus -150 favorite proving once again that logic doesn’t cash tickets and you can’t buy championship chemistry. We continue our look at MLB Tuesday Results by going from one of baseball’s top early success stories to one that may be October-ready in April.

Bettors All Over Red-Hot Rays

The betting public is starting to smell something great happening with the Tampa Bay Rays after 74% of the public money was on Tampa as a consensus -178 favorite. Some of the books weren’t convinced with some opening Tampa as a -160 road favorite. Granted their success has come against the Washington Nationals and the Oakland Athletics, but with baseball betting being a game of streaks you can start to separate a few of the teams because of their dominant pitching.

The Rays will finish off their series against the Nats today as massive favorites (-270) with Shane McClanahan on the mound (1-0, 0.00 era) against Patrick Corbin (0-1, 6.00 era). We’re not encouraging laying -270 on any game, but Tampa and the run-line may be the way to go until they show that the public can’t trust a staff that owns a 2.00-era team era. That may take you right through October. Let’s conclude our MLB Tuesday Results by giving you some of the betting numbers that matter.

Unlike 2022, Favorites Have Early Advantage

Do you remember last season when Twitter was buzzing because of the number of dogs that were cashing tickets in April? The betting world always corrects itself and we’re seeing it early on. Favorites are 44-35 (.557), a number that is favorable to the bookmakers even though the public tends to have their cash behind the favorites most of the time.

-$714 is what the ‘Joes’ would be down if they bet every favorite this season, showing that you must select the right favorites to be successful. As in most sports, stay away from large numbers. This season -180 favorites or more are 35-31 but have lost $100 bettors $676. If we move it down to a bankroll friendly -130 or below, the public’s record would be 12-7 (+$286). That does it for our MLB Tuesday results with the moral of the story being don’t be tempted by the larger favorites if you want your bankroll to last into May.
