Charlotte 49ers 2023 Future Odds

The 49ers Have Produced Five Straight Losing Seasons for Bettors

The Charlotte 49ers finished the 2022 season 3-9 SU and 2-6 SU in their season as a member of Conference USA.

This season will be the first season for the 49ers in the American Athletic Association. The program has been to one bowl game (2019) in its 10-year history so there is plenty of work to be done. New Head Coach Biff Poggi is tackling his first head coaching assignment after spending 24 years as a high school coach in the Baltimore, Maryland area.

The 63-year-old was an associate head coach at Michigan for the past two seasons in what is his only experience at the D1 level. Charlotte will see 12 different new coaches in 2023.

The Charlotte 49ers’ future odds have remained the same from last season after opening at +100000 to win the National Championship. The 49ers won’t cash a conference crown, but let’s look at their other Charlotte 49ers future odds to see if there are other opportunities to pad the bankroll.

49ers Likely to Surprise in 2023

Now, we’re not getting crazy with the headline when it comes to winning a title on any level this season, but we do think they’ll be slightly better in 2023. All eyes will be on quarterback Jalon Jones after the senior transferred from Bethune-Cookman where he threw for 2,231 yards in addition to his 13 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. It was his best season as a college signal caller but his numbers have never been jumped off the page.

The 6-3, Virginia native, completed just 58.4% of his passes last season. That was an improvement from 2020 where he completed just 55.6%. He’s part of a complete overhaul under Poggi who will welcome 70 new faces to the program. Although Poggi will be seeing most of his squad play for the first time in a few weeks, he is extremely familiar with his signal caller who played under Poggi in his junior year at Saint Francis Academy in Baltimore.

Jones became a 4-start recruit after leading Poggi’s high school to a number four ranking in the USA Today Super 25. This will be the fourth school Jones has played for after starting out at Florida before transferring to Jackson State followed by Mississippi Delta College. Many anticipate Jones to be a dual-threat QB, but there is still so much to prove and he has one more shot to do that.

We don’t expect the 49ers to be anywhere near the NCAAF rankings but watching the 49ers College Football scores could be fun even though they are a long way away from being a threat to the top of their new conference. You have to turn the soil over when changing the culture of a program, that’s exactly what Charlotte is doing.

National Championship Odds: No chance

We are told to include this section so that’s why it’s here! Absolutely no one thinks the 49ers are going to compete among the best in the nation. A middle-of-the-pack finish in the AAC is a reasonable expectation and that won’t happen this season. Let’s give a few betting stats you can take from game to game this season. Despite embarrassing expectations, the 49ers have been a decent wager as a favorite over the last five seasons with a 6-5 record (+61 units). Over the last three years that number has improved to 3-1 (+180) so watch for Charlotte in that role. Against teams playing less than .500 football, the 49ers are 7-10-1 ATS. That number must improve before we can talk about a Charlotte 49ers future odds winner.

Conference Odds: Oddsmakers Project a Last-Place Finish

It doesn’t appear that the American Athletic Association will be the best host. At +10000 to win the conference crown, the 49ers have the worst odds by far. The Rice Owls are next in line at +6000. Last year, the 49ers were +3000 to win Conference USA, but it appears that Charlotte will be treated like they’re renting a room in the home of Tulane (+200), SMU (+340), and UTSA (+450). Charlotte opens their season against South Carolina State with their conference opener coming in week five at SMU.

Regular Season Wins: There are Four Victories on The Schedule

Watching the 49ers College Football point-spread win-loss progression is one way to determine the direction a program is heading in, but before we get to that, there is a future wager that deserves attention.

The 49ers projected season win total is the lowest it’s been in three seasons, but there is something about this number that seems to be begging the public to get down on the under. We think this program will grow from week to week starting in week one against South Carolina State. With this year’s projection downgraded to 3 ½ wins, we think the 49ers will find wins against Rice and Tulsa. That’s three wins, so where will the other come from? They have a third-week date with Georgia State who they beat (42-41) outright as a 20-point underdog last season.

The Panthers will be looking for revenge so that’s not a win. Let’s go with a win at homecoming against Navy. That’s our official Charlotte 49ers future odds selection, take Charlotte to go over 3.5 wins in 2023. We wish you the best with all of your 2023 College Football wagers.
