The End of an Era, Bill Belichick Leaves Patriots After 24 Seasons
The Greatest Coach in the History of the Patriots Part Ways After 24 Seasons & 6 Super Bowl Champs

Hats off to a Legend 🙌
The king is dead! If you’re like me and didn’t grow up in Boston or the Northeast, you spent the better part of two decades despising the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick. Their reign of terror is finally coming to an end with the NFL news that Belichick and the Patriots have agreed to part ways.

The reign came to an end when Tom Brady left but now it’s officially dead. NFL rumors have been suggesting that Belichick could be on the move. The Patriots went 4-13 in NFL games in 2023 and played like crap all year.

Belichick might be the greatest coach in NFL history but his style just doesn’t work without a player like Brady at the helm. He’s also been coaching in New England for over 20 years and sometimes it’s just nice to have a change of scenery.

However, although Belichick is 72, he still plans to coach. It doesn’t appear this will be a Pete Carroll situation in Seattle where he will stay on as an advisor. Belichick is likely cutting ties with the franchise and will sink his claws into a new team in 2024.
For the Patriots, they’ll now have to launch their first head coaching search since 2000. Former NFL player and inside linebackers coach Jerod Mayo has been a rising star in the coaching ranks and could be the heir apparent to Belichick. However, there are a lot of coaches with more experience and Patriots ties who are available.
Josh McDaniels just flopped spectacularly with the Raiders but he’s close with owner Robert Kraft. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him back in New England in some capacity. Also, the most obvious choice would be Mike Vrabel, who was just fired by the Tennessee Titans.
He won three Super Bowls as a player for the Patriots and has proven to be a very good choice. He’d be a great pick for the Patriots if he’d even be interested. Kraft could also decide that he wants a complete reset and go with somebody with no ties to Bill Belichick.

Jim Harbaugh, Ben Johnson, and Mike MacDonald could be names to watch. It’s hard to know what Kraft might do considering he hasn’t hired a coach in so long. The roster is a mess so it’s not the most appealing job so he may end up needing to go with a legacy hire in the end.
