Le Havre Stats History
Le Havre Athletic Club, or Le Havre AC, is based in Le Havre, Normandy, France. Established in 1872, Le Havre are one of the oldest football clubs in France and the football section of the club started playing in 1894. Despite the lack of major honors in their trophy cabinet, they have a reputation for producing some of the best young talents in the game.Â
In their early years, Le Havre were at the forefront of soccer development in France. They were one of the founding members of the French Football Federation back in 1919, Le Havre AC have predominantly featured in the lower leagues but they’ve also spent 25 seasons in Ligue 1 as of the 2023-24 season.
Some of the most prominent players to come through the ranks at Le Havre are Steve Mandanda, Paul Pogba, Riyad Mahrez and Lassana Diarra.
The most notable achievement in the Le Havre AC team stats is winning the Coupe de France in 1959. It remains their only major trophy but they have managed to win Ligue 2 a record six times. The best-ever Ligue 1 finish in the Le Havre team stats is third place in the 1950-51 season. Le Havre have mostly played in Ligue 2 in the 21st century. Regardless, they opened one of the most modern stadiums in France, the Stade Oceane, in 2012. The Stade Oceane can seat over 25,000 people and also features a hotel.Â
In 2015-16, the club came close to their first Ligue 1 return since 2008 but narrowly missed out on promotion. Finally, in 2022-23, Le Havre managed to win Ligue 2 and join the top tier once again. Incredibly, they conceded just 19 league goals in 38 matches. Despite no players finishing with more than six goals in the Le Havre team stats, they comfortably sealed automatic promotion.
Betting advice certainly suggests that Le Havre could have a tough time scoring goals in Ligue 1 this season. Last season, they finished with just the ninth-most goals in Ligue 2 and seem to lack a prolific striker.
The preseason Ligue 1 odds list them as the second-most likely team to go down to Ligue 2. Le Havre AC show +150 odds to be relegated.
