Super Bowl National Anthem Prop Bets: Riding the Rollercoaster of Props

Watch the National Anthem/America the Beautiful Props

We Will Go Back and Forth, Over/Under These Props

Bettors know the most exciting prop bet this Sunday is the National Anthem length. Why? These Super Bowl National Anthem prop bets are like a rollercoaster as bettors will bet back and forth and flip the length. Iconic country singer Reba McEntire gets the honors as the current length is awfully short at 86.5 seconds, with the ‘over’ at -150. By the time we publish this, this total could move up.

Dissecting How Short or Long The Anthem Will Go

Super Bowl National Anthem prop bets get significant attention since it’s seemingly a 50/50 bet and is one of the first to occur in the big game. McEntire’s length of 86.5 seconds and the opener of 90.5 seconds are both short considering history. The last 25 National Anthem singers have all gone over 90 seconds in their renditions.

We’ll have to go back to Jewel from 1998, who sang the anthem at 87 seconds. And seven of the last eight singers before her all went over 90 seconds. Since 1990, only Jewel and Aaron Neville went under 90 seconds when singing the National Anthem. So why is McEntire’s time set so low?

It’s her. McEntire is not the type of singer to go full Christina Aguilera on the anthem. The length of the last “brave of us” is expected to go under 4.5 seconds at -125. And previously, she sang the anthem at just 83 seconds during the 1997 World Series. More recently, she sang for just 77 seconds during the 2017 Celebrity Softball game.

This is why Super Bowl expert picks juiced the ‘under’ in the opening line. We may just see McEntire sing the shortest version of the National Anthem in over a decade.

Bet the Entire McEntire Wardrobe?

The National Anthem’s length is just the tip of the iceberg here. The Super Bowl National Anthem prop bets also feature the traditional fashion set: what will our singer be wearing, and will she be showing cleavage?

The answer to that salacious question is a flat “no” at -400. Ms. McEntire is also not expected to don a cowboy hat (-400). But she could have sequins or a tassel (-130). As for the primary color of her boots, it’s a toss-up with black with the shortest odds at +200, followed by brown at +300. Green is the longshot at 16-1.

Bettors can lay bets on either black or brown and still come away with a profit, as McEntire’s boot wardrobe primarily consists of the two colors.

Chiefs Favored in Anthem/America The Beautiful Props

Kansas City may be the underdogs this Super Bowl LVIII, but NFL expert picks have it being featured first during the singing of both the National Anthem and “America the Beautiful.” At least, bettors have made Kansas City favored by -140 (-150 for the latter) to be the first team shown (player or staff) on camera.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes (-170/-150) is widely favored to be shown before his counterpart, Brock Purdy. And Mahomes’ running mate, Travis Kelce, is the shortest favorite (-200 each) in a “head-to-head” with 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey. Last but not least, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is favored at -140 and -150, respectively, to be shown before Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers’ coach.

We should also expect someone to shed a tear or two during the anthem at -130. Last year, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni cried along with both the Kelce brothers, Jason and Travis. What are the odds of Travis Kelce crying again?

“America The Beautiful” and “Lift Every Voice and Sing”

Two other songs will feature during the start of Super Bowl LVIII, with rap star Post Malone singing “America the Beautiful” and Andra Day taking on “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. But unlike the National Anthem, bettors are more skeptical to play these props.

“America the Beautiful” is listed at 109.5 seconds, with the ‘over’ slightly favored at -125. There is not as much action on “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” which is set the longest at 131.5 seconds. The latter will be sung live for the first time. Alicia Keys had a filmed performance during Super Bowl LV in 2021. This performance lasted around 131 seconds, hence the betting line.
