Week 17 NFL Odds Late Games: Minnesota vs Green Bay-Key Game

There are four late Sunday afternoon games in the NFL on Sunday, with several having playoff implications. The Green Bay Packers are rounding into form, having won and covered their their last three games. The Vikings have dropped three straight against the NFL odds despite winning two of them. Seattle and the Jets find themselves in a must-win game, while the 49ers and Chargers are looking to improve their playoff positions.

The San Francisco 49ers (11-4) visit the Las Vegas Raiders and the Week 17 NFL odds have the 49ers as 10.5-point favorites. The 49ers opened as 4.5-point favorites and the line moved plenty on Wednesday on news Las Vegas would be sitting several starters, including quarterback Derek Carr. That will give the team a chance to see what Jarrett Stidham can do but it doesn’t do much for the Raiders’ chances of winning. The Raiders run the ball pretty well when Carr is playing, averaging 4.9 yards per carry, but San Francisco is less likely to respect the pass with Stidham. The Week 17 NFL odds on the total have seen the number move from 43 to 41.5. It’s hard to back Las Vegas when it looks as though the NFL team has thrown in the towel.

The New York Jets (7-8) visit Seattle (7-8) in a game neither team can afford to lose if they hope to make the playoffs. The NFL Week 17 odds see the Jets favored by 1 and the total has moved from 44.5 to 42.5. The Seahawks have failed to cover the spread in six straight games. The Jets are on a four-game losing streak, going 1-3 ATS in that time frame. Neither team is playing its best football entering this one. The Jets are lacking good quarterback play but may not need it against a Seattle defense that allows 4.9 yards per carry. Seattle has fallen away from running the ball despite gaining 4.7 yards per carry. Only once in the last five games have the Seahawks rushed for more than 100 yards.

CBS Games

The Minnesota Vikings (12-3) visit the Green Bay Packers (7-8) and the Week 17 NFL odds see the Pack have been bet from 2-5-point favorites to 3.5-point favorites. While the line move is just a point, it’s significant, as it crosses the key number of 3. The total is 48. People have been saying the Vikings aren’t as good as their record all season and it’s hard to fault them when looking at Minnesota’s stats. But the Vikings keep winning. They’re just not covering the spread any longer, as they’ve become overpriced. The Vikings allow more yards than they gain and are only a +5 in scoring margin for the season, which aren’t the marks of a 12-3 team. Green Bay is playing well right now and this game is a big revenge for the Packers, as well. Green Bay may not get the job done but it is the way to bet in this one.

The Los Angeles Rams (5-10) make the short trip to visit the Los Angeles Chargers (9-6) on Sunday afternoon. The Week 17 NFL odds have the Chargers favored by 7 with a total of 41. The Rams have showed a bit of life since they found themselves with NFL players plastered on the NFL injury report. Baker Mayfield has played well for the Rams and keeps doing enough to get another contract. The Rams could be a little overvalued here after exploding for 51 points against a solid Denver defense.

The Rams rushed for 158 yards against the Broncos and the Chargers don’t defend the run well at all. The Chargers are allowing 5.1 yards per rush and 140.5 yards per game. The lack of rushing defense hasn’t hurt the Chargers much this season, as they’re locked into the playoffs for the first time since 2018. The Chargers are still missing a few bodies due to injury but have to believe this one will see a little more scoring than expected. The over 41 has a little bit of value in this one.
