Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

The favorites to score the game’s first touchdown aren’t much of a surprise. 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has the shortest odds, followed by Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco. Each player led his respective team in scoring during the NFL regular season.

Here are the some important trends to help you analyze the jersey number of first scorer odds for 49ers-Chiefs.

Over Jersey Number 19.5: -110

Under Jersey Number 19.5: -110

CMC a Prime Pick

Christian McCaffrey has the best odds of any touchdown scorer, and with good reason. The three-time All-Pro has four touchdowns this postseason and led the NFL with 21 during the regular season. He scored at least one in 13 of his 16 NFL games.

As such, McCaffrey — who wears No. 23 — is -245 to hit paydirt in the Super Bowl, giving him 71.01% implied odds. He also obviously has the best NFL odds of any potential first touchdown scorer at +370.

McCaffrey has scored first eight times for San Francisco this season, and he’s been the game’s first touchdown scorer in four of those games.

San Francisco will look to establish the run early, giving McCaffrey more than a few opportunites to get San Francisco on the board first.

Pacheco Next in Line

Kansas City has scored the first touchdown in two of its three NFL playoff games. Receiver Rashee Rice opened the scoring against Miami in the Wild Card round, while tight end Travis Kelce followed suit in the AFC Championship against Baltimore.

Both players are good bets to reach the end zone, as evidenced by Patrick Mahomes’ NFL QB stats. However, neither is the Chiefs’ most frequent first touchdown scorer. That distinction goes to running back Isiah Pacheco, who has done so six times this season.

Pacheco — who wears No. 10 — scored nine touchdowns in the regular season and has one in all three playoff games. He has the second-shortest jersey number of first scorer odds at +650.

Kelce a Record-Breaker

Kelce — who wears No. 87 — has scored first in three of Kansas City’s last six playoff games, including the AFC Championship. He also did so in last year’s Super Bowl, but it was Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts who opened the scoring.

He’s also caught at least one pass on every opening drive this postseason. As Kansas City’s biggest downfield threat, Kelce is sure to get involved early once more. He now has 156 catches in 21 career playoff games, breaking Jerry Rice’s NFL record.

Kelce is the only player besides McCaffrey and Pacheco with minus odds to score (-110), giving him implied odds of 57.45%. He also has the third-shortest jersey number of first scorer odds at +750.

Players with Multiple First Touchdowns

Chiefs logo Kansas City: Pacheco (6), Rice (4), Jerick McKinnon (2), Kelce (2)

Odd/Even

Some states are also offering bettors to opportunity to wager on the first touchdown scorer wearing an odd or even number. The Super Bowl odds are curiously -325/+235.

McCaffrey and Kelce both wear odd numbers, which may explain why these odds are heavily slanted in one direction.
