The Ravens QB Showed Up

As Lamar Jackson stats show, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback was dominant in the NFL last week.

He made the Detroit Lions look second-rate, which hasn’t been easy to do in 2023.

He’s a dynamic player, and he needed to prove his worth, but he did so in a big way on Sunday.

Passer Rating Off the Charts

NFL betting lines had the Ravens favored to win, but not many predicted the 38-6 scoreline.

That is in large part thanks to Jackson, who put up incredible numbers. He had a passer rating of 155.8, and it was needed following some less-than-average numbers in the last two weeks.

The big contract player had a passer rating of 65.2 when losing 17-10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers before improving to 88.6 against the Titans.

However, his overall quarterback rating against the Titans was a low 59.2, so the pressure was on Jackson to perform and he didn’t let anyone down.

His quarterback rating was 95 after completing 21 of 27 passes. Lamar Jackson stats had him throwing for 357 yards, with an average of 13.2, which means most of the passes were down the field.

We expect greatness from a QB nearing 14,000 total yards, but he hadn’t been himself lately.

It Came at the Right Time

Losing to the Lions would have seen the Ravens at 4-3, which isn’t a bad record, but now they’re 5-2 in the NFL standings.

Jackson’s play this week has given the Ravens a lead in the AFC North ahead of storied rival Pittsburgh, and keeping that one-win buffer is important.

The most impressive Lamar Jackson stats from the weekend was his 80-yard pass. It was an absolute bomb down the field, and only a few quarterbacks are able to produce that level of ability.

As NFL scores show, he has always possessed a deep-threat ball, and although it’s often on the receiver to do the hard work, the pass needs to be accurate.

His career long is 83 yards, so it almost bettered his all-time best.

“Today was lights out,” said tight end Mark Andrews, who caught two TD passes. “I think just by Lamar, obviously Coach Monk, from the top down on the offensive side of the ball. Those two guys were elite.”

Improved Numbers All Around

Jackson’s performance against Detroit saw his numbers improve across the board.

His completion percentage of 77.8% was much better than his career 64.5%. A more economical Jackson is a dangerous proposition for opposing defenses.

He also averages 13.2 yards per throw, up from his career average of 7.5.

Jackson usually uses his legs to do most of the damage, so if he gets his arm firing, it’s game over for the rest of them.

Because of his performance in Week 7, the odds for the Ravens to win the Super Bowl firmed. Bettors will be confident in their chances if Jackson keeps up this level of play, so the next few weeks will be interesting to watch.

2023-24 Lamar Jackson Stats: Ravens Star Ready To Win Another MVP

The worst is over for Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. The star quarterback signed a lucrative new deal to remain as the team’s QB for the foreseeable future. Baltimore, in turn, bolstered the offense around him. Thus, the 2023-23 Lamar Jackson stats could see an uptick if all goes according to plan.

Lamar Jackson in 2023

Jackson’s MVP Chances Dependent on Health

Jackson is undoubtedly one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks when he’s on the field. However, he’s been injury prone since 2020. In the past two seasons, Jackson has played just 12 games each time. He missed the Ravens’ final quarter of the season plus the playoffs.

If Jackson is to stay in the NFL’s MVP race, he will need to play when it matters most. Both his team’s success and the 2023-24 Lamar Jackson stats are dependent on how many games he can play. He’s listed at 40-1 to pass for the most yards and at 25-1 in rushing.

Baltimore also faces a tough NFL schedule to close out its season. In its final four weeks, it visits Jacksonville and San Francisco then hosts Miami and Pittsburgh. Three of these teams made last year’s playoffs while Pittsburgh also finished with a winning record.

The team upgraded the receiving unit by signing three-time Pro Bowler Odell Beckham Jr. and Nelson Agholor. The team also drafted Zay Flowers with its first-round pick. With the health of their running backs, Jackson has the best offense around him. But without Jackson, the Ravens went just 3-5 with Tyler Huntley as the starting QB.

Lamar Jackson’s Player Profile & Stats

The 2019 NFL MVP just signed a five-year $260 million contract with Baltimore with $185 million guaranteed. His annual average salary of $52 million a year makes him the highest-paid quarterback in the league. To make good of this whopping deal, Lamar Jackson’s 2023-24 stats need to go up a notch.

Last Year’s Stats

In his fifth season, Jackson’s 2022 stats were a story of ups and downs. He started the season on fire but cooled off until he got injured after his 12th game.

On average, Jackson had an underwhelming 2022. His touchdown percentage (5.2 percent), yards per attempt (6.9), and passer rating (91.1) were all below his career average. Lamar Jackson’s 2023-24 stats could improve with the improvement of his team.

What are Jackson’s MVP Odds?

Listed at 12-1 to win the MVP for the 2023 NFL season, Jackson is tied for fifth with Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. Patrick Mahomes (+650), Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Jalen Hurts (all at 8-1) are the only players with shorter odds.
