Can Justin Fields Prove He’s The Franchise QB For The Bears?

The Bears vs Vikings Spreads Have The Vikings Favored By More Than A Field Goal

The Minnesota Vikings will look to get back into the win column with a home game against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football.

The Vikings were on a month-and-a-half win streak dating back to early October. But Minnesota finally ended up back in the loss column last weekend against the Broncos, with a 21-20 loss.

Meanwhile, Justin Fields returned to the Bears as the starting quarterback. While the Bears had success offensively, the defense wasn’t good enough in a 31-26 loss. The Bears have just three wins this season and are looking at another below-average season.

The Vikings are currently -3 (-110) against the spread at home. The total is at 43 flat.

Do the Bears have any chance of knocking off the Vikings on Monday night?

Let’s look at the Bears vs Vikings spreads for this NFC North showdown.

Bears vs Vikings Spreads & Trends

The Chicago Bears have pushed two games this season. With that, they’ve gone 4-5-2 in 11 games against the spread this year.

However, the Bears have finished 2-0-1 in their last three games. So, Chicago is currently trending in the right direction.

Meanwhile, the total has hit the Over in seven of 11 games this year. The Bears are also 1-5 on the road and will face Minnesota away from home in this matchup.

On the other hand, the Vikings are 7-3-1 against the spread this season. They started poorly but have added six straight covers against the spread. However, the total has hit the Under in eight of 11 games, proving that the defense has ultimately outperformed the offense this season for Minnesota.

The Vikings are just 2-3 at home but have added five straight wins against the Bears over the last few seasons.

Bears Set To Clean House For Next Season

With how things are going this year, the Chicago Bears could end up with two top-five picks in the upcoming NFL Draft.

This could allow the Bears to select a franchise quarterback instead of Justin Fields while adding a star wide receiver.

The Bears could go another route by adding a wide receiver and offensive lineman while keeping Fields. There are many different ways to go about this. However, it’s likely that the Bears start fresh in their front office next year.

NFL insider Albert Breer suggested that the Bears are trending toward letting go of head coach Matt Eberflus and general manager Ryan Poles after this season. The new president, Kevin Warren, wants to add his own guys in there and be more involved on the football side.

Tom Brady, The Minnesota Viking?

The rumors are out.

Sports Illustrated reached out to Tom Brady about the potential of finishing the season in Minnesota. Of course, Brady, who is retired, declined the invitation, and the Vikings went with Joshua Dobbs at quarterback.

Vikings’ head coach Kevin O’Connell and Brady have a history together from their time in New England. But the Vikings weren’t able to get Brady to commit.

The consolation prize of Dobbs wasn’t so bad.

Minnesota’s On A Quest!

The Minnesota Vikings found a way to stay competitive despite Kirk Cousins’ Achilles injury. He was one of the NFL latest injuries at the quarterback position, along with Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow. They brought in Joshua Dobbs, who has been a terrific addition to the Vikings.

It’s not just because of his skill. He’s come in and has been a leader for the Vikings since joining the club. The camaraderie and chemistry is high. While Justin Jefferson isn’t back yet, Dobbs figures to have Jefferson back eventually. That’ll only elevate the offense more.

On defense, the Vikings have been consistent. They’ve held teams to under 21 points per game and have one of the best secondaries in football. The pass rush is weak, but the run defense has at least held teams to 94 yards per game this season.

Meanwhile, Chicago’s defense has given up 245.91 yards in the air and another 79.55 yards on the ground this season. Dobbs figures to have a big day passing. He’s already thrown for more than 225 yards in each of his first two starts with the Vikings.

The former Tennessee Volunteers star has also thrown a completion percentage of above 62% in every game he’s appeared in for the Vikings this season. He’s consistently throwing the football and has rushed for over 100 yards in three games for Minnesota.

He’ll go up against Justin Fields of the Bears, who is practically auditioning for a starting job next season. The Bears will have Carolina’s first pick. So there’s a solid chance the Bears pick first. With Caleb Williams on the board, the Bears have to be very impressed with Fields throughout the second half of the season to stay away from drafting Williams.

In his return against the Lions, Fields added 169 yards passing with one touchdown. He also rushed for 104 yards on 18 carries and put the Bears in position to win. The Lions just came back late in the fourth quarter while Fields looked on from the sideline.

Fields is one of the more dynamic players in the NFL. He can put up big numbers via the pass and the run. Neither team is very high on the NFL pass defense rankings. However, Fields will have more success rushing the football in this one.

Don’t bet any Super Bowl odds for these two teams. Don’t even look at the Bears vs Vikings spreads. Take the Over 43.5.
