Jauan Jennings didn’t have a massive impact on the outcome of the Super Bowl after catching four passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. It was his first trip to the endzone in nine career playoff games. The former Tennessee Volunteer has yet to have what we would call a big game in his career but the third-year veteran should find himself in a bigger role next year, but it may not be in San Francisco with Jennings heading off to free agency. Let’s analyze Jauan Jenning’s statistics along with his impact on the number.

With Kubiak In New Orleans Are The Saints Next For Jennings?

Klint Kubiak will try to bring some of what made the 49ers successful on offense to New Orleans after signing a deal to become the team’s new offensive coordinator after spending 2023 as the passing coordinator for Kyle Shanahan. One of the names that has been rumored to be one of the top targets for Kubiak is Jennings after a season that saw the slot receiver rack up 265 yards receiving in 13 games. His production fell by 151 yards this season, making 16 fewer receptions.

We believe he can be an impact receiver but not in San Francisco where he was inactive for the last three games of the regular season. Jenning’s impact isn’t always seen with flashy statistics because they have yet to come up with a number to show the impact of receiver blocks but his presence allows bigger name stars in the Niners offense to find room. It isn’t a guarantee that Jennings will be on the move because San Francisco still is in a position to match any offer he receives in free agency. No matter what the future holds, we expect his NFL player stat page in 2024 to be the best in his young career.

Some Suggest Jennings Would Have Been MVP

We’re not sure we agree with the sentiment that Jauan Jennings would have been going to Disneyland as the Super Bowl MVP but his impact on the game was undeniable. In the second quarter, Brock Purdy threw a quick lateral to Jennings at the 28-yard line of Kansas City with Jenning’s momentum carrying him back to the 32. With CB Trent McDuffie coming hard, Jennings panted and threw a strike to Christian McCaffrey across the field at the 27-yard line that McCaffrey ran in for the Niner’s first touchdown.

In addition, he caught all four balls thrown his way including a 10-yard fourth-quarter score to give the Forty-Niners a 16-13 lead with 11:22 left in the game. His blocking was impeccable as usual leading to the MVP talk. We know that the award would likely go to McCaffrey who accounted for 160 total yards with 80 yards rushing and receiving, along with a touchdown.

Unfortunately, his first-quarter fumble with the Niners driving in the first quarter was a key factor in the Chiefs winning their third Super Bowl in five seasons. No matter where Jennings ends up, you can bet he will continue to make an impact on NFL scores for years to come.

Jenning’s Impact On The Number

When studying Jauan Jennings’ statistics we wondered what his impact has been on the betting number, so we went down the rabbit hole. Now, it’s impossible to put an exact science on Jennings direct impact on Niner winning wagers but we can see that since 2021, Jennings first season, San Francisco is 34-26 ATS (+5.05 units) including the postseason. Only four other teams (Detroit, Dallas, Cincinnati, and Green Bay) have been better over the last three years.

In the previous three seasons, San Francisco was just 23-27-1 ATS (-5.20 units) and 49-63 ATS (-15.78 units) between 2014 and 2020. Jennings was inactive four times this season and San Francisco was 2-2 SU and ATS in those games, including a 1-2 mark over the final three games of the season.

The prospect of Jennings heading to New Orleans is interesting considering the Saints are 13-20-1 against the NFL lines over the last two seasons. That does it for our look at the impact of Jauan Jennings’ statistics, now we spend the next five months waiting for the Hall of Fame Game.
