Lazio were the better side vs. Juventus last Saturday in one of the best Serie A games today and it eventually showed in the scoresheet. There, Matteo Guendouzi sent in a cross for Adam Marusic, who headed in his first Lazio goal for two years.

Juventus Hitting Rough Patch

Juventus have only gained seven points in their last nine Serie A matches. It’s an unacceptable return for a club that was in the title race before their run of poor form. Now, Juventus are in third place in the Serie A standings, 17 points behind leaders Inter Milan as of Monday morning. The Old Lady are at risk of missing out on the top four if their poor run of form continues. Juve have scored just one goal per game in their last nine matches.

Notably, both of Juve’s highest-scoring matches this season have been in the Coppa Italia. In the Round of 16, in early January, Juventus put six goals on Salernitana in a 6-1 result. One week later, Arkadiusz Milik scored a hat trick in the 4-0 Quarter-Final victory over Frosinone. Kenan Yildiz, Juve’s teenage Turkish striker, has scored in both of their Coppa Italia matches this season.

Although Juventus have been in poor form, they’ve still only dropped one match at the Allianz Stadium this season, in all competitions. The one loss was a 1-0 defeat to Udinese, when Dusan Vlahovic was out. Juve’s star striker also missed Saturday’s game at Lazio due to a suspension and it’s no coincidence Juventus failed to score again. He’ll be available to play here and he’s the only Juve player to reach double digit goals this season. Meanwhile, Alex Sandro, Arkadiusz Milik and Carlos Alcaraz are expected to miss this match and Filip Kostic is listed as doubtful.

Tudor Takes Charge of Lazio

March has also been a tumultuous month for Lazio. The Biancocelesti lost their first three matches of March as they fell 1-0 at AC Milan and crashed out of the Champions League with a 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich a few days later. Maurizio Sarri, who took over as Lazio coach in June 2021, had his last match as Lazio manager in their 2-1 home loss to Udinese. Sarri resigned after the defeat and Giovanni Martusciello took over as caretaker manager.

In one match in charge, Martusciello led Lazio to a 3-2 road victory over Frosinone. Then, Lazio appointed Igor Tudor as head coach. Tudor most recently led Olympique de Marseille to a third place finish in Ligue 1 in 2022-23. Tudor played for Juventus as a player and guided Lazio to a 1-0 victory over his former club on Saturday.

Lazio ended the weekend in seventh place in the Serie A table and they’re in the running for the European places. However, Ciro Immobile is the only Biancocelesti player with five or more goals in the Serie A stats. In the Coppa Italia, Lazio have picked up 1-0 wins over Genoa and rivals Roma. Pedro got sent off in the Quarter-Final and will miss this match. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ivan Provedel and midfielder Nicolo Rovella are out injured.

Juventus vs Lazio Match Analysis & Odds

At the time of opening, Juventus were -135 favorites for Tuesday’s match. Now, they’re listed at -125 odds. Meanwhile, the Juventus vs Lazio betting odds price the visitors at +400 but wins at the Allianz Stadium have been incredibly rare for Lazio. Bettors can back a draw at +240 and that would be an excellent result for Lazio heading into the second leg of the Semifinal.

Juventus and Lazio will meet three weeks later in Rome for the second leg and away goals aren’t the tiebreaker anymore for the Coppa Italia. Instead, the fixture will go into extra time if the aggregate score is level after two matches. Somewhat concerningly, Juventus failed to score vs. Lazio on Saturday for the first time in the last 33 meetings.

Here, under 2.5 goals show -175 odds. Juve have failed to score in two of their last four home games. However, Juventus should get an offensive boost with Vlahovic back into the fold. This is the last chance for both sides to win a trophy this season, so expect this to be a hotly contested match.
