An Early Reaction To Super Bowl LVIII

The Super Bowl LVIII Opening Odds Already Saw Significant Line Movement

Super Bowl LVIII will feature a rematch from the 2020 Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs will take on the San Francisco 49ers, who are looking for their third Super Bowl in five seasons. The Chiefs would join a short list of NFL teams to do that. The shortlist includes only three teams. One of them was the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick New England Patriots.

The Chiefs didn’t have as good of a season as their other years. They played below standards and had to play a home Wild Card game and two road games in the NFL playoffs to get to the Super Bowl. The Chiefs never had to do that in the Mahomes era.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Therefore, many analysts and fans suggested that the Chiefs would eventually lose in a road environment in the playoffs. But the exact opposite happened. The Chiefs looked unbeatable in those three games and will now make their fourth Super Bowl appearance in five NFL seasons.

Meanwhile, the 49ers are back in the Super Bowl for the first time since 2019. Again, the Niners lost to the Chiefs in that NFL matchup and will be looking for revenge in Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.

While the 49ers opened at 2.5-point favorites, they’ve since dropped to -1.5. Some books have even pushed the Niners to -1 (-110). Make sure to find the best odds for the team you’re looking to bet.

Meanwhile, the total opened at 47.5 and hasn’t moved since. However, we’ve seen a couple of sportsbooks throw up at 47. Therefore, it looks like if the total does move everywhere, it would be down and not up.

Here’s a look at the Super Bowl LVIII opening odds between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

Super Bowl LVIII Opening Odds

The 49ers have won 14 games throughout the season and in the playoffs. However, they’re sitting at 9-10 against the spread this season. The 49ers weren’t even profitable against the spread this season.

Meanwhile, the total hit the Over in 10 of 19 games, despite most believing that the 49ers have one of the best defenses in the NFL. On the road, San Francisco still went 7-2, which is very good. However, the Chiefs went 8-2 on the road and already had multiple games in harsh environments during the playoffs.

The Niners didn’t experience that as the Chiefs did.

Kansas City went 12-8 against the spread throughout the year but hit the Under in 14 of 20 games.

Kansas City hasn’t lost to San Francisco since 2014.

San Francisco Looking For Franchise’s Sixth Super Bowl Title

The San Francisco 49ers want to make history with this year’s Super Bowl.

The 49ers have won five Super Bowls, putting them just one Super Bowl behind the Steelers and Patriots for the most Super Bowls in NFL history.

The Niners had a chance to earn their sixth Super Bowl in 2019 under Kyle Shanahan but failed. Now they’ve got another opportunity.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are gradually climbing the ladder to greatness, too.
The Chiefs are looking for their third Super Bowl Championship in just five seasons. This is also the fourth time in five seasons that the Chiefs have made a Super Bowl appearance.

What Happened To Kadarius Toney?

Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs made a deal with the New York Giants to bring in a former first-round wide receiver, Kadarius Toney, to the team.

Toney showed flashes of excellence thanks to his speed and his ability to get open. However, things changed this season after he dropped many passes and started social media wars with other fans.

As the drops continued, the Chiefs sent Toney to the NFL injured reserve. However, Toney acknowledged that he’s completely fine and has no injuries.

The Chiefs potentially fabricated Toney’s injuries so they didn’t have to waste a roster spot on him. He’s constantly creating drama and causing a stir. Don’t expect the Chiefs to activate him for the Super Bowl.

While he still has potential as a young, speedy receiver, many teams won’t want to take a chance on him moving forward because of his actions off the field.

An Opening Look At Super Bowl LVIII

Our opinions can change throughout the next two weeks. However, at first glance, the Chiefs seem to have the edge.

San Francisco has been statistically better throughout the season. However, Brock Purdy isn’t in the same class as Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs made Lamar Jackson look silly for most of their AFC Championship Game. Meanwhile, Brock Purdy of the 49ers has made countless mistakes and poor decisions over the last few games. He threw a couple of wild passes in the middle of the field, and the Lions caught one for an interception in the first half of the NFC Championship Game.

The Chiefs will likely force Purdy into uncomfortable positions. He’ll have to take sacks or try to make a play, which would ultimately hurt the team.

In the AFC Championship Game, the Ravens rarely ran the ball with their running backs when the Chiefs had the lead. Baltimore essentially didn’t believe their running game would work against the Chiefs. If the 49ers can’t run the football with Christian McCaffrey against the Chiefs, the 49ers are going to be in significant trouble.

At first glance of the Super Bowl LVIII opening odds, we like the Chiefs at +1.5 with the NFL point spreads. The NFL football score will likely get lower than the total, with the expectation that the Chiefs will make Purdy uncomfortable throughout the game.
