NFL Point Spreads Week 8: Vikings, Colts, Seahawks Among Biggest Movers
Betting public batting Vikings after upset of San Francisco
The Minnesota Vikings are trending back up after upsetting the San Francisco 49ers on Monday. Can they stay hot?
Now 3-4, Minnesota’s one of the biggest movers on the odds board for Week 8. Here are some lines to watch for NFL point spreads Week 8.
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers
Day/Time:
Opening Total: Vikings +1.5
Current Total: Vikings -1.5
Minnesota’s gone from 1.5-point underdogs to 1.5-point favorites (-110) on the NFL point spreads Week 8. The Vikings have won three of four following an 0-3 start to find themselves back in the hunt for a wild card.
Meanwhile, the Packers are reeling after three straight losses. Some are already wondering whether the Packers, at 2-4, have an issue at quarterback. Is Jordan Love the answer? He’s completed just 57.5% of his passes, and the Packers rank near the bottom of the NFL in scoring (21.7 points per game).
Atlanta Falcons at Tennessee Titans
Day/Time:
Opening Total: 38.5
Current Total: 35.5
With Ryan Tannehill sidelined with a high-ankle sprain, the Titans are expected to turn to either Malik Willis or rookie second-rounder Will Levis at quarterback. The Titans are coming off back-to-back losses and have surpassed 16 points just once in their last four games.
Although Atlanta’s (4-3) first place in the NFC South NFL standings, it hasn’t been much better offensively. It ranks 28th in the NFL in scoring, averaging only 16.4 points per game. On top of that, the coaching staff has drawn criticism for its bizarre use (or lack thereof) of rookie running back Bijan Robinson.
This is the lowest total on the board for NFL point spreads Week 8. It’s no secret why. Expect points to be at a premium.
New Orleans Saints at Indianapolis Colts
Day/Time:
Opening Total: Colts +5.5
Current Total: Colts +1
The Colts have stayed fairly competitive following Anthony Richardson’s season-ending shoulder injury. They nearly knocked off the Browns last week as a 3.5-point underdog, falling 39-38. It sure helps having Gardner Minshew, one of the better backup quarterbacks in the NFL.
Indianapolis is still just 3-4, but it’s talented enough to hang with the Saints. After landing Derek Carr in free agency, New Orleans (3-4) has been a disappointment. The Saints have lost three of their last four NFL games.
Cleveland Browns at Seattle Seahawks
Day/Time:
Opening Total: Seahawks -1.5
Current Total: Seahawks -3.5
There’s been a lot of movement in the betting market on the Seahawks, who have climbed to 3.5-point favorites (-110). Seattle seems to be getting healthier — All-Pro receiver DK Metcalf is expected back after missing the first game of his NFL career with hip and rib injuries — while the Browns will be without quarterback Deshaun Watson for another week.
Veteran P.J. Walker has held down the fort in Watson’s absence (shoulder), but Seattle’s a different animal at home.
Cincinnati Bengals at San Francisco 49ers
Day/Time:
Opening Total: Bengals +5
Current Total: Bengals +3.5
Brock Purdy is dealing with a concussion, per NFL updates, meaning Sam Darnold could be in line to start at quarterback for San Francisco. The 49ers have dropped two straight following a 5-0 start, but Cincinnati still hasn’t hit its stride. The Bengals (3-3) are coming off a bye.
