Bundesliga Matchday 29 Odds, Preview

Title Contenders Draw on Matchday 28

Mainz vs Bayern and Dortmund vs Frankfurt on Saturday

The Bundesliga title race continues to be a very tight affair. Ten-time defending champions Bayern Munich lead Borussia Dortmund by just two points with six games left. In matches they were both favored to win, Bayern and Dortmund drew last weekend. On Saturday, Dortmund have their most difficult remaining fixture, vs Eintracht Frankfurt. Meanwhile, Bayern head on the road to Mainz but still need to face RB Leipzig next month. We’ll take a closer look at these games and more as we preview the Bundesliga Matchday 29 odds.

Games of the Week:

M05 Mainz vs Bayern Munich FCB

Date & Time:

Despite drawing on Saturday vs Hoffenheim, Bayern Munich are still on top of the Bundesliga standings. Their form has been quite shaky recently and Thomas Tuchel is yet to get the best out of his players. Before Saturday’s match, Bayern have a crucial Champions League clash vs Manchester City.

With Bayern trailing by three goals, on aggregate, it’ll take a huge effort for the Bavarians to advance. In any case, they could have some tired legs come Saturday when they take on Mainz.

The odds currently list Bayern as one-goal road favorites and they’ve already defeated Mainz twice this season. In February, Bayern picked up an easy 4-0 win in the DFB Pokal round of 16 at Mainz. Bayern also beat Mainz 6-2 in the Bundesliga reverse fixture. Despite winning both previous meetings this season, Bayern have lost their last two road Bundesliga matches at Mainz.

Still, they come in at -110 odds to cover the spread and -170 odds to win and stay on top of the table. Bayern need to be careful, though, as Mainz are on a nine-match unbeaten run. That includes wins over RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.

Mainz are now in eighth place and have an outside shot at making a European competition next season. Mainz +1 sits at +110 odds for this match and the hosts display +410 moneyline odds to win. In what has been an incredibly high scoring fixture in recent seasons, both teams have scored in the last seven Bundesliga meetings.

Over three goals show -115 odds for Saturday’s match as a result. Mainz are also on a 14-match scoring streak in the Bundesliga as both Marcus Ingvartsen and Karim Onisiwo have scored nine goals this season. A draw could be fatal for Bayern here and it is priced at +360 odds.

BVB Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt SGE

Date & Time:

Borussia Dortmund led 2-0 at Stuttgart in the first half last Saturday. It looked like Dortmund would cruise to victory as Stuttgart’s Konstantinos Mavrapanos picked up a red card in the first half. However, Stuttgart came back from both 2-0 and 3-2 down to get an important draw in their survival fight.

It’s a highly disappointing result for BVB though, as a win would have put them in first place. Dortmund will look to bounce back on Saturday vs an Eintracht Frankfurt side that hasn’t won a Bundesliga match for two months.

Heading into the match, the Bundesliga Matchday 29 odds price Dortmund as one-goal favorites. They come in at +105 odds to cover the spread and -155 odds to win the match. Scoring certainly hasn’t been a problem for Dortmund lately as they’ve scored at least twice in their last six Bundesliga games.

However, they also conceded in each of those matches and have been missing key center backs Niklas Sule and Niko Schlotterbeck. It remains to be seen whether either will be able to suit up for this one. Frankfurt are dealing with a bunch of defensive injuries of their own. They have also conceded in eight straight Bundesliga matches.

Here, over three goals come in at -125 odds as both teams have scored in the last five meetings. BVB have also won the last three, including a 2-1 road win in the reverse fixture. Frankfurt have drawn five of their last seven Bundesliga matches and sit at -125 odds to cover here.

A draw comes in at +345 odds and it’d certainly hurt Dortmund’s title chances. Frankfurt have only one win at the Signal Iduna Park in the last decade and they’re +365 moneyline underdogs.

Bayer Leverkusen vs RB Leipzig

Date & Time:

One of the most intriguing matches on the Matchday 29 Bundesliga schedule is Bayer Leverkusen vs RB Leipzig. With consecutive wins, Leipzig have re-entered the top four. Meanwhile, Leverkusen recently rattled off five straight wins and are unbeaten in their last seven Bundesliga games.

This is not a fixture that has been kind to Leverkusen, though. In 13 total matches since promotion, RB Leipzig are an impressive 7-4-2. Hosts Leverkusen have never defeated Leipzig at home and Xabi Alonso’s side will be itching to break that streak.

Even with their excellent form, Leverkusen aren’t favorites here. In fact, both teams display -110 odds to cover as a pick’em. Their moneyline odds are also identical, at +160. Leipzig’s road record this season hasn’t been great, though. They’ve gone just 5-4-5 away from home in the 2022-23 Bundesliga with just a +2 goal difference.

Left back David Raum is also suspended for this match and could be replaced by Marcel Halstenberg. Leipzig do have a rest advantage here, as Leverkusen take on Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League on Thursday.

With that fixture tied at 1-1 after one leg, extra time is certainly a possibility. That could certainly mean some tired Leverkusen legs come Sunday. It’s possible Leverkusen forward Patrik Schick can return in time from injury for this one, though.

It’s very important that Leverkusen get a win here to keep their Champions League hopes alive. They’re currently seven points behind fourth-placed Leipzig. Leipzig would likely be satisfied with a road point and a draw shows +260 odds. Meanwhile, over 2.5 goals display a -125 price.

BMGBorussia Monchengladbach vs Union Berlin FCU

Date & Time:

Union Berlin managed to come away with a point at Bochum last Sunday despite Paul Jaeckel’s red card. Jaeckel is suspended for Sunday’s match at Borussia Monchengladbach as Union continue their Champions League push.

Union currently occupy third place and are just two points ahead of fifth-placed SC Freiburg. While Gladbach are one of the best home teams in the league, Union are unbeaten in the last five meetings. Plus, they’ve won the last three by a 2-1 scoreline. The Bundesliga Matchday 29 odds price Gladbach as +135 home favorites, though.

While Borussia Monchengladbach have just one road win this season, they’re 8-3-3 at home. In this pick’em, the Bundesliga’s 10th-placed team displays -150 odds to cover. Union have lost six times away from home this season and come in at +130 odds to cover.

They’re also +210 moneyline underdogs. While Borussia Monchengladbach have been underperforming for a couple seasons now, they are unbeaten in their last four matches. They have failed to score in four of their last seven, though. Both teams average over 1.5 goals per game but under 2.5 goals display -135 odds here.

That could have to do with the fact that Union have the second-best defensive record in the league this season. Still, Gladbach have some talented offensive players like Jonas Hofmann and Marcus Thuram. Only Niclas Fullkrug has scored more goals than Thuram this season in the Bundesliga.

Knowing the danger that Gladbach pose, a draw will be enough to keep Union in the top four. Although a draw shows +235 odds, Union will be thinking about a fourth straight win over Gladbach.
