This will be the tenth match of all time on the EFL Cup schedule between Liverpool and Fulham. Liverpool are unbeaten vs Fulham in the EFL Cup but haven’t met in this competition since 2000. In the all-time EFL stats, Liverpool hold a 7-2-0 record vs Fulham.

The Reds have also won their last two Premier League matches vs Fulham, including a seven-goal thriller in December. Liverpool fell behind 3-2 in the 80th minute, but goals from Wataru Endo and Trent Alexander-Arnold handed the Reds the win. Liverpool have lost just one of their last 11 games vs Fulham but are just 2-2-1 in the last five.

Liverpool in Form Despite Absences

Liverpool are one of the most in-form teams in Europe right now and picked up another win on Sunday. Missing Mohamed Salah, who’s at the Africa Cup of Nations, and Virgil van Dijk, who was ill, Liverpool went to the Emirates Stadium and defeated Arsenal 2-0 in the FA Cup.

Trent Alexander-Arnold put in a dangerous delivery on a late free kick that Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior inadvertently headed into his own net. Luis Diaz sealed the deal on a counterattack in stoppage time as the Reds advanced to round four.

Jurgen Klopp is dealing with a lot of absences, and youngsters Jarell Quansah, Conor Bradley, and Bobby Clark all saw the field on Sunday. Whether Van Dijk will be ready in time for Wednesday remains to be seen.

Either way, Dominik Szoboszlai, Andy Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, Joel Matip, and Thiago Alcantara are all out. Midfielder Wataru Endo is also away on international duty with Japan.

Expect a similar lineup from Sunday’s match in this Liverpool vs Fulham EFL matchup, as the Reds don’t play again after this until January 21st. Darwin Nuñez looked dangerous vs Arsenal, but his finishing left a lot to be desired. Cody Gakpo is also tied for second in the EFL Cup stats with three goals.

So far in the EFL Cup, Liverpool have scored 10 goals in three games. They’ve beaten Leicester City, AFC Bournemouth and West Ham to get to this point.

Fulham Struggle Away From Home

Fulham took on EFL Championship side Rotherham in the FA Cup third round last Friday and came away with a 1-0 victory. Harry Wilson forced a Rotherham defender into a mistake by putting pressure on him, and Bobby Decordova-Reid picked up the ball with space to shoot. Decordova-Reid’s first-half wonder strike was the game’s only goal and now Fulham are on to the fourth round.

Ahead of Wednesday’s EFL Cup Semifinal first leg at Liverpool, bettors should note that Fulham have had a rough time on the road this season. They’ve won just once in 10 away matches in the Premier League this season. However, their last two matches on the EFL Cup schedule were road games.

In the Quarter-finals, the Cottagers defeated Everton in penalties and Fulham beat EFL Championship club Ipswich Town 3-1 on the road in the round of 16. Fulham have also defeated Norwich City and Tottenham in penalties in the 2023-24 EFL Cup.

While Liverpool don’t have a match for 11 days after this, Fulham take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday. So, Marco Silva has to be conscious of squad rotation. In any case, Fode Ballo-Toure, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey are away on international duty, while Tim Ream and Adama Traore are dealing with injuries.

Match Analysis & Odds

This is a match Liverpool will expect to win as they look to extend their 16-game unbeaten run vs English opposition. In this Liverpool vs Fulham EFL matchup, the Reds are 1.5-goal home favorites. Liverpool haven’t lost at Anfield this season and are -305 favorites for Wednesday’s game.

Bettors can also take Liverpool -1.5 at -115 odds. Currently, Liverpool are also the favorites to win the EFL Cup, at -125 outright odds.

A strong first-leg performance could potentially give Klopp and Liverpool the opportunity to rest some key players for the second leg. Meanwhile, Fulham, who have won their last two EFL matches, are +600 underdogs here.

Fulham are just 2-9-26 all-time away at Liverpool and Fulham +1.5 shows -115 odds for this one. Still, both of Fulham’s wins at Anfield have come in the last seven meetings there. However, two of Fulham’s last four matches have finished with multi-goal losses.

It would be an excellent result if the Cottagers could somehow come away with a draw. A deadlock is listed at +475 odds here. Raul Jimenez could return to the lineup for Fulham following a red card suspension, which would provide an offensive boost. With Salah away for Liverpool, it’s no surprise that under 3.5 goals are priced at -150 odds.
