MAC Win Totals Odds: Rockets See Highest Posted Number

Toledo Big Favorite in Mid-American Conference

It’s no surprise to see the MAC win totals odds have the highest win total posted on last year’s conference champion, Toledo. The Rockets look to be the class of the conference in 2023. The Ohio Bobcats could very well be best of the rest, although Eastern Michigan and Miami (Ohio) have solid teams.

There is a little bit of parity in the league, so some of the upper tier teams could have a tough time reaching their win totals. The bottom teams might get there with an unexpected conference win or two.

The MAC will always be popular with bettors due to its willingness to schedule weekday games. That’s actually a brilliant move by the conference. Few people will watch MAC games on a Saturday. But when there’s a game on Wednesday night, bettors and football fanatics will tune in to watch. The conference gets a decent payday from the networks, along with more exposure than it could hope to get playing on Saturdays.

Rockets logo Toledo 9.5 (Over +120, Under -150)

The MAC win totals odds are pretty steep on the Rockets. Reaching 10 regular season wins is never easy, especially when Toledo opens the season at Illinois. But there are several other games in which you can see the Rockets coming up a little bit short in. The juice is a bit high, but the under looks like the only way to play Toledo.

Bobcats logoOhio 7 (Over -145, Under +115)

The Bobcats have NCAAF schedule for non-conference games that includes San Diego State and Iowa State. Ohio does have a guaranteed win in Long Island, but Ohio is probably looking at a 1-3 or 2-2 record in non-conference games. The Bobcats could win five MAC games, but the talent may not be there to get six. The under gets a slight lean here despite the presence of Sam Wiglusz, who is probably the best receiver in the MAC.

RedHawks logoMiami (Ohio) 7 (Over -125, Under -105)

Miami is looking at a 2-2 non-conference schedule, opening with the Miami Hurricanes and also including Cincinnati. But there are a few easier games against Delaware and UMass. The key game for determining this wager could be the Nov. 15 matchup with Buffalo. But Miami is most likely a six- or seven-win team this season.

Eagles logo Eastern Michigan 6.5 (Over -165, Under +135)

Eastern Michigan should go 3-1 in the non-conference part of its slate. As long as EMU can be on the right side of the NCAAF scores against Central Michigan or Western Michigan, it has a pretty good shot at getting to seven wins on the season. Laying -165 isn’t ideal, however.

Bulls logo Buffalo 6.5 (Over -110, Under -120)

Buffalo plays a tough non-conference schedule that will likely lead to a 1-3 record. Getting six wins in the MAC is doable, although it won’t be easy. Buffalo does travel to Toledo and Miami, two games that will be tough to win. The Bulls should get to six wins, but the seventh is going to be hard.

Huskies logo Northern Illinois 6.5 (Over +130, Under -160)

Boston College, Nebraska and Tulsa are on the non-conference slate and the Huskies could need a win in one of the three to reach seven wins. NIU travels to Toledo and Central Michigan in conference play. The Huskies will have to win the games they should in order to send this one over.

Chippewas logo Central Michigan 5.5 (Over -110, Under -120)

The Chippewas are going for the non-conference payday, with games at Michigan State and Notre Dame. The conference schedule isn’t the worst, getting Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois at home. Central Michigan may need a win in at least one of those games to get to six wins and bowl eligibility.

Cardinals logo Ball State 4.5 (Over -150, Under +120)

Ball State opens the season with road games at Kentucky and Georgia. Those two contests should net the athletic department enough money to run the football program for the year. But they’ll also leave the Cardinals 0-2 in the standings. The other non-conference games against Indiana and Georgia Southern are winnable. Ball State will still need three MAC wins to reach five victories and it can probably do enough to get there.

Falcons logo Bowling Green 4.5 (Over -115, Under -115)

The Falcons lost some key players from last year’s defensive front and they’ll definitely be missed. Bowling Green is probably looking a 1-2 record in non conference games. It’s hard to picture the Falcons going 4-4 in MAC play. The under is the way to go in this spot, as Bowling Green looks like a four-win team at best.

Zips logo Akron 3.5 (Over -140, Under +110)

D.J. Irons and Alex Adams teamed-up for nine touchdown passes last year and both are back. So the Zips are capable of making some big plays. Akron is also capable of allowing some big plays on defense. Having Temple, Kentucky and Indiana on the non-conference schedule isn’t going to help. The Zips could have a tough time getting to four wins this season.

Broncos logo Western Michigan 3.5 (Over -130, Under Even)

The MAC win totals odds aren’t giving much respect to Western Michigan. The Broncos are looking at a 1-3 non-conference record. They’ll beat Saint Francis, but should suffer losses to Syracuse, Iowa and Mississippi State. Getting three conference wins isn’t guaranteed, but WMU should get there.

Golden Flashes logo Kent State 2.5 (Over -115, Under -115)

The Golden Flashes lost a lot of talent from last year’s team and it’s showing in their season win total. Kent State is returning zero returning starters on offense, with several players transferring to Power 5 schools. The Golden Flashes aren’t going to be good, but this total is extremely low and tough to bet the under.
