Ohio Bobcats 2023 Future Odds

The Bobcats Look to Carry 2022 Momentum Into 2023

The Ohio Bobcats finished the 2022 season with a 10-4 record overall. The Bobcats went 7-1 in the MAC but lost in the Championship game to Toledo. However, Ohio earned a bowl victory over Wyoming in the Arizona Bowl. That added solid momentum heading into the 2023 season.

The Bobcats hope to return to the MAC Championship and win it all this year. They’ve certainly got the returning talent to do it.

All-MAC quarterback, Kurtis Rourke, tore his ACL toward the end of last season. But that didn’t stop Ohio from performing at a high level. C.J. Harris stepped up and played well enough to push Ohio to a win in the playoffs.

If the Bobcats were able to stay afloat with Harris, you can only imagine what they’ll be able to do with Rourke this season.

Let’s look at the Ohio Bobcats’ future odds for this upcoming season in the MAC.

Returning Talent on Offense

It’s already been mentioned that Kurtis Rourke will get the keys to the offense with the Bobcats this season at quarterback. Rourke is ready to return to the field after throwing 3,256 yards and 25 touchdowns in only 11 games.

Rourke threw four interceptions in those four games and had a top-25 QBR in College Football. Rourke has a chance to lead many NCAA football stats this season.

Meanwhile, O’Shaan Allison missed all of last year with a shoulder injury. He’ll be back on the field for the Bobcats this year. Allison has earned over 1,000 yards rushing for Ohio since beginning his career in 2018. He had 869 yards on 138 carries in 2019 and has been unable to see the field consistently since then.

Rourke will have former Ohio State wide receiver Sam Wiglusz at wide receiver. Wiglusz transferred to Ohio before last year’s season and added 877 yards with 11 receiving touchdowns. The Rourke and Wiglusz connection is going to be incredible this season.

Has The Defense Figured It Out?

The Ohio defense was terrible in the first half of the season. The defense allowed over 550 yards per game in the first six games. Then in the second half, the defense allowed just 390 yards per game in their last eight games.

The defense added more pressure and ultimately got more stops. Suppose Ohio wants to win the MAC this season. The defense needs to be consistent throughout the season.

They showed glimpses of what they can do.

Important Transfers

Like most teams in college football, the Ohio Bobcats used the transfer portal to their advantage. The Bobcats added Walter Reynolds as a cornerback. He figures to be a significant portion of a secondary expected to do big things.

Ohio also added more depth at running back with Tristan Cox, and they made a solid addition to the offensive line with Ches Jackson coming over to play offensive tackle.

National Championship Odds: Ohio Bobcats

The Ohio Bobcats are underdogs against San Diego State in their first game of the non-conference schedule. They’ll also be underdogs against Florida Atlantic and Iowa State, despite being at home against Iowa State. Ultimately, if Ohio loses those three games, they cannot win the National Championship. Even if they go undefeated, that might not be enough to earn a bid into the top four. The Ohio Bobcats future odds agree with that sentiment.

Conference Odds: Bobcats Favored for MAC Championship Return

The Ohio Bobcats are +120 to win the MAC East Division. The only actual threat in the MAC East to win the division would be the Buffalo Bulls. They’re listed at +250 to win the division. However, in last year’s meeting, Ohio defeated Buffalo 45-24,

Meanwhile, Ohio has the second-highest probability of winning the conference at +280. The Bulls are expected to play Toledo (+170) in the MAC Championship.

Toledo defeated Ohio in last year’s Championship, 17-7. But this year, expectations for Ohio’s offense are through the roof. They’ll likely score more than seven points if given the opportunity in the MAC Championship again. Don’t be afraid to bet the Overs on the Ohio Bobcats future odds this year.

Regular Season Wins: Ohio Owns The MAC

The Bobcats are listed at 7.5 wins, with the over-juiced to -115. Ohio went 7-1 in the MAC and doesn’t have many threats this year.

Ohio will likely start the season slow again. They’ll be on the road against San Diego State and Florida Atlantic and have a home game against a Big 12 team in Iowa State. But they’ve got an easy game against LIU mixed between those three games. That game should be one of the more lopsided NCAAF scores that week. Therefore, they’ll likely be 1-3 heading into conference play.

Ohio State should be able to earn wins against Bowling Green and Kent State. Ohio struggled against Kent State last year, but they’ll be at home this year. That should propel them to get back to 3-3.

After that, Ohio will face Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Miami OH, Buffalo, Central Michigan, and Akron. The only game that Ohio might lose is against Buffalo on the road.

That would total nine wins in the regular season and be enough to get Over on the Ohio Bobcats future odds win totals. The cover makes sense for the Bobcats when breaking down my NCAAF predictions.
