Last To Win or Lose: Which NFL Winless & Undefeated Teams to Bet?

The Schedule Tells the Story, Start Prepping Now

Cardinals and Eagles on Opposite Sides Again

The Cardinals and Eagles find themselves as opposites again. The two are favored to have the fewest and most NFL regular season wins, respectively. Now, they’re likely to be the last NFL winless & undefeated teams per the odds. Arizona is at +400 to be the last team to win while Philadelphia is at +650 as the last to lose. To get a better read on these NFL odds, check the schedules.

Fading Arizona: When Will Cardinals Win?

At 4-1, the Cardinals have more than double the odds Houston and Tampa Bay both at +900. That just goes to show how bad oddsmakers expect Arizona to be this season. The team lost its last seven games and finished 4-13 on the NFL standings last year.

It is without its two stars on offense: Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins. And the coaching staff is brand new. On top of that, Pro Bowl safety Budda Baker is asking to get traded. In short: this franchise looks like a dumpster fire now hence why most NFL picks are going against it.

Arizona opens their season with a road trip to Washington then hosts the Giants in Week 2. The Cardinals may just win one of these two games. Otherwise, its next three are against top contenders: vs Dallas, at San Francisco, and vs Cincinnati. Should Arizona be 0-5, it gets to face the Rams in Los Angeles in Week 6. This is the site of Arizona’s last win in 2022.

The Other Losers: Which Also-Rans Could Have Donuts Early?

Houston is no better than Arizona. The team finished even worse last year at 3-13-1. And like Arizona, the Texans have a new quarterback and coaches. The team opens on the road against Baltimore as a sizable underdog. But then its second game is a home opener against the Colts, who could be just as bad this year. Fans may not have to wait long for C.J. Stroud to get his first NFL win.

Speaking of Indianapolis, the last NFL winless & undefeated team odds have them at +1600. That’s likely because they open at home versus Jacksonville then visit the Texans. These are a pair of winnable games for Shane Steichen, yet another new coach. A game with Baltimore is then followed with more “softballs” in home games versus the Rams and Titans.

And just below Indy are the Commanders at +1800. Ron Rivera’s teams have a tendency to start slow and having the fourth-hardest 2023 schedule won’t help. Washington could beat Arizona in Week 1. But if it doesn’t, it then visits Denver, hosts Buffalo, and visits Philadelphia.

Also with a new QB, it shouldn’t be too surprising if Washington is 0-4 and looking for a new coach by the time it faces Chicago in a short week.

Fly Eagles Fly: Can Philly Go on an Unbeaten Run Like Last Year?

Philadelphia tops the last NFL winless & undefeated teams board slightly over Kansas City and Cincinnati (both at +750). This team went 8-0 in 2022 before losing at home to Washington in Week 10. But while the Eagles have pretty much the same squad as last season, its schedule is a bit tougher.

The Eagles start by visiting the Patriots. They then host Minnesota for their home opener in Week 2. Games against Tampa Bay (road), Washington (home), and the Rams (road) should favor Philadelphia. But then it visits Aaron Rodgers’s Jets in Week 6 and welcomes the Dolphins in Week 7. It would be impressive if Philly went 7-0 in this span.

But the team does have one thing going for it: Kansas City and Cincinnati have harder schedules to start. The Chiefs open the season against the Lions, who finished 2022 on an 8-2 run. After that, it’s a trip to Jacksonville, where the Jaguars haven’t lost in five straight games.

The Bengals may also lose in the first two weeks as it visits Cleveland then hosts Baltimore. But should Cincinnati go 2-0 here, the Bengals have an easier path until its Week 7 bye. Other than Seattle, the Bengals face losing teams from 2022. Cincinnati could go 6-0 and be the last perfect team standing.
