Season-Long NFL Field Goal Props: Coming For Tucker’s Title

Ravens Kicker is the “GOAT” But A Few Could Be Better in 2023

Betting on Tucker and the Best Kickers for 2023

Move over Tom Brady. The true “GOAT” is here as the Ravens placekicker, Justin Kicker, is ready to add to his accolades. The 33-year-old is the favorite per the season-long NFL Field Goal props to score the most field goals (+750) and the longest field goal (+850). But he’ll face some fierce competition this NFL season as several young bucks could just make for better bets.

The “Foot” in Football: Which Kickers are Going to Score a Lot?

The NFL Field goal props favor Tucker to score the most field goals for a reason: he did it last year (37). But that’s also because he attempted the most (43) field goals. Kansas City’s Harrison Butker is not too far behind on the board as he looks to be better coming off an injury-hampered season. And Las Vegas’s Daniel Carlson is at third:

  • Ravens logo Justin Tucker (BAL) +750
  • Chiefs logo Harrison Butker (KAN) +800
  • Raiders logo Daniel Carlson (LVR) +1000
  • Falcons logo Younghoe Koo (ATL) +1300
  • Seahawks logo Jason Myers (SEA) +1300
  • Vikings logo Greg Joseph (MIN) +1500
  • Panthers logo Eddy Pineiro (CAR) +1500
  • Bengals logo Evan McPherson (CIN) +1800

Tucker may get all the shine as far as place-kicking is concerned. He’s the top NFL pick here because he holds the NFL record for the best career field goal percentage (minimum of 100 attempts) at 90.5%. Koo is second at 89%, with Carlson and Butker next at 88% among active kickers. They have the four shortest odds to score the most FGs this season.

But for kickers to do their work, teams need to get into scoring position – a lot. The closer a team is to the end zone, the easier it is for the kicker, theoretically. Tucker scored the most last season because of two factors: 1) the Ravens frequently got into scoring position; and 2) they did not score touchdowns in the red zone.

This combination led to Tucker making the second-most field goals from 39 yards or closer (24 of 24) – Seattle’s Jason Myers also tied him with 24. But Tucker’s edge over Myers and everyone else also comes by way of hitting the “long bomb”: kicking it from 50+ yards.

The Golden Boot: Kickers That Will Score the Longest FG

Tucker did not score the longest field goal in 2022. That honor belongs to Butker who converted on a 62-yarder. Four others scored 60-yarders as well, and they’re all on this odds list.

But Tucker still holds the record for scoring the longest field goal in NFL history at 66 yards. And he’s “money” when attempting a field goal at 50+ yards, hence why he’s atop the NFL field goal props list for scoring the longest FG this year:

  • Ravens logo Justin Tucker (BAL) +850
  • Cowboys logo Brett Maher (DAL) +850
  • Seahawks logo Jason Myers (SEA) +900
  • Cardinals logo Matt Prater (ARI) +900
  • Broncos logo Will Lutz (DEN) +1000
  • Texans logo K’ami Fairbairn (HOU) +1000
  • Chiefs logo Harrison Butker (KAN) +1000
  • Jets logo Greg Zuerlain (NYJ) +1500
  • Vikings logo Greg Joseph (MIN) +1500
  • 49ers logo Jake Moody (SF) +1500
  • Giants logo Graham Gano (NYG) +1500

Maher is tied with Tucker and may be the best long field-goal kicker if we’re talking about prolificness. The Cowboy has hit a 60-yard field goal in three of his four seasons with Dallas. He also converted 9-of-11 from 50+ yards, which is the second-best accuracy. The man with the best? Carlson.

The Raider made 11 of his 13 field goal attempts from 50+ yards. However, he has never hit a 60-yard field goal. His 57-yard score last season is his career high. That’s why he’s not on that list and is at 40-1 to score 2023’s longest FG.

Unlike the “Most Field Goals” kicking prop, this “Longest Field Goal” prop is more of a crapshoot. Every season, someone different wins this bet. Last year, it was Butker. In 2021, it was Tucker with his 66. In 2020, Myers. And in 2019, Maher. They were all at 60+ yards.

The kickers on that list also come from all kinds of teams. You’ve got some who are likely finishing last in the NFL division standings, while some are Super Bowl contenders. So, really, this is rolling the dice.
